I’m living in Sweden but only speak English still. When I’m in a group everyone switches to English but if I don’t talk for a while they start slowly mixing back in Swedish words. There’s a sweet spot with Swedlish that to me sounds like a bunch of giggly people a drink or two in trying to see how far they can get away with mispronouncing words while still being understandable

22·9 days agoMaybe you’ve never lived with a particularly wild cat? They can be quite the handful and cats have such strong personality it’s hard to work with if their quirks don’t mesh well with your own. They also operate on their own schedule and sometimes that means playtime is in 10 minute intervals of pure chaos randomly sprinkled about in the dead of night

Technology@lemmy.world•Copilot could soon live inside Windows 11's File Explorer, as Microsoft tests Chat with Copilot in Explorer, not just in a separate appEnglish
22·10 days agoI have to use Windows 11 for my school computer, not allowed to change the OS. I didn’t realize how shit awful explorer had gotten between 10 and 11. For anyone reading this who has to use 11: there are explorer alternatives. I use OneCommander and it let me change the default explorer for shortcuts and when other programs bring things up like with “show in folder” options. I don’t have to use windows explorer anymore and while it’s no Linux at least it doesn’t have fucking copilot and it gives me back basic control

7·13 days agoIt’s possible but imo unlikely. I know its very different in a lot of ways but Starbucks at least will close a location to “save money” practically day of a successful unionizing vote. A union gets harder to squash the longer they’re around, and more likely to spread to other locations, so companies get pretty trigger happy about shuttering places.

5·14 days agoIf you’re careful with it you can grab them when they take off without squishing them. I do catch and release like this it’s much faster than trying to shoo them outside, plus the window doesn’t need to be open for long so less likely another one wanders in during the process
It almost hit -30c where I’m at but apparently those last couple degrees is where the coolest people like to chill. I’m out there looking like a rack of unwanted coats at the back of the store and you’re ready to show an evil frost wizard the meaning of pain

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you were living with your parents, how often would they go through your personal space? (aka; enter your room, search your drawers, your backpack, your electronic devices, etc...) Is this normal?English
10·16 days agoMy dad would periodically go through things but not like deep searches as far as I could tell. Like opening a drawer but not digging around, or seeing if my computer was unlocked, etc. I was also allowed a door lock though so if I really cared I would have just locked them out but it was minor enough that it wasn’t worth the potential drama to me. The area I grew up though it was very very common for parents to do forensic level dives into their kids’ rooms. Several of the people I knew in high school their bedroom doors were removed entirely by their parents. I always found that to be a gross intrusion of privacy but the Mormons never batted an eye at it
I had a partner who was convinced we were in a perpetual state of being weeks away from losing access to water. We lived in Seattle… Fear is often really illogical and it can be difficult to step away from it (Sorry if this posts twice phone is acting weird)
Ynthrepic, what the fuck are you talking about?

That’s why anything I’m giving away I just put it outside and say first person to show up gets to keep it. It either gets sent off to someone who saw it or it gets ‘stolen’, either way not my problem anymore
