Karl urban became the character. Almost took me out of the movie he was so on point.
IMO, he was the only good part of those movies.

Lack of dedication? What do you mean? I figured Pegg’s aloof, casual take on Scotty was directed.
I suspect it’s a reference to James Doohan’s amputated finger.
Karl Urban’s portrayal of that character was just phenomenal. I mean, it might be one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.
I think they were all great. It’s a fine line to play iconic characters without coming off as a parody or disrespectful. Kudos to the director as well for guiding them.
