Details

Unless otherwise stated, all full movie links I post are for free, no account required, licensed (AFAIK, IANAL) streaming VOD in English (or original language with English subtitles) and work at time of writing in my location, Mexico. Availability and language options may be different in your location. Asterisk by the one I watched.

I saw this on Prime Video. I don’t think there are any legit free streams for this. Check the links below for paid streaming options.

Legal stream finders

Details

The ‘nobraincellsleft’ link finds legit stream sources from many countries, listed by two-letter code.

The Just Watch link lists legit stream sources only for one country at a time. On the web page, change the country to your location, e.g. change Mexico to Australia.

Neither is perfect. Check your preferred streamers directly, just in case.

Opinion

After three duds from free streaming, I decided to try something from paid streaming and checked out Prime’s shark offerings.

I saw ‘The Meg’ a couple of years ago, and didn’t remember much except it got the job done. As it’s called in Mexico, a palomera (a movie that’s fine for eating popcorn to).

So I clicked ‘play’ on Meg 2. Is it a serious oeuvre of the seventh art that conveys a deeper message? Is it fuck! Is it braindead schlock that delivers what I needed: thrills, spills and kills? Fuck yeah!

Score: 4.5 out of 5 sharks.

Giant wild beast in captivity? Oh, that always ends well!

Close call between megalodon and submersible

Poor guy will probably never get the deposit back on that pedalo

A world first for “shark tonsil POV”?

The first one was much better and a lot more fun imo. They’re both b-movies for sure but the first one felt more like everyone involved was trying while the second felt more money grab.

The general vibes of it all definitely changed the viewing experience when watching both of them.

Recently watched both and I have to agree. Same for deep blue sea, pretty fun, cheesy monster shark movie followed by a series of cheaply produced movies that are hard to stay interested in for the whole run time following in the tradition of jaws.

The first one wasn’t included on Prime any more so I couldn’t watch the two together to compare.

I think after enduring flicks like ‘Narco Shark’ and ‘Cocaine Shark’, even ‘Meg 2’ would feel like ‘Citizen Kane’, ‘Seven Samurai’ and ‘The Matrix’ all rolled into one :)

The Meg 1 is famous for having Rainn “Dwight from the Office” Wilson in a supporting role.

I treid watching The Meg 2 once but didn’t get very far.

The 1st Meg movie is brilliant, imo. It knows exactly what it is and is perfectly tuned to it. The cast are likeable and the cheesiness is just self aware enough without being overly smug about it. Some genuinely great shots like when the little girl first sees the shark, and when it gets to the crowded beach. One of my favourite B movies.

The fun thing is it was released two weeks after the OceanGate Titan implosion. To quote Pitch Meeting: “something nuts will have to happen for a kind of mass education on oceanic pressure “.
