Israeli soccer fans displayed a banner reading “Murderers since 1939” during a match against a Polish team, leading Polish fans to attack an Israeli fan bus after the game last night.

Fans of Israeli club Maccabi Haifa displayed a controversial “Murderers since 1939” banner during their Europa Conference League match against Poland’s Raków Częstochowa, an encounter that was relocated to Debrecen, Hungary, for security reasons.

After Maccabi Haifa’s 2:0 defeat in the match, a group of Raków Częstochowa fans attacked an Israeli fan bus by throwing stones, with the violent incident being captured on video, though no injuries were reported from the clash.

Channel 13 reported that the “Murderers since 1939” banner displayed by Maccabi Haifa fans came in response to a previous incident where Polish soccer fans unveiled a banner reading “Israel is murdering and the world is silent” during a match the prior week, referencing the ongoing war on Gaza.
