Turns out, it’s illegal to remove them in the US:
I’ll be leaving the cowbird egg in the nest, but will keep a close eye on the other eggs.
I’ve heard that the cowbird will retaliate if it finds its egg missing. Won’t that happen?
Well dang…
Hopefully the Robin babies do alright.
Is that for real? How would there be two species of eggs together? Is it common?
We need to riot over this travesty!
Yup. Best solution I’ve heard of for stuff like this out climbing in the drier is to scare the ever living daylight out of them (without doing any actual harm).
In this scenario, I would “trap” their arm with something like a notebook, make a loud racket in the fridge, and maybe even shake the door a bunch.
For something like a clothes drier, I would slap the machine a lot and shake it all about.
Basically, scare them enough that they lose all desire to do it again. Sucks to have to do it, but it’s not like you can sit them down and have a chat about the dangers of machines…
Bubs@lemm.eeto Post the most downvoted comments from all around Lemmy@lemm.ee•Is there something about being a world record holder that turns people off?English6·17 days agoI guess some people see it a bit as bragging just from looking at the title. The title gives no information on why it might be an interesting AMA. The complete lack of a post body saying what the record is about, or even interesting info about holding the record, leaves little reason for an AMA.
Even something as simple as “I hold the world record for X” would be more engaging.
Pet peeve:
You can’t call a GIF a perfect loop if it starts and end with the looped element disappearing. Any GIF would be a perfect loop if the only animated part goes off screen for the looping point.
What’s your thoughts on the provided OpenWRT vs vanilla?
I’m glad to hear that. The Flint series isn’t the most popular out there, but most everyone has good things to say about them.
The missing video and screen sharing are probably the biggest things that would keep me in my group for moving over. The project looks promising though, and I’ll definitely be watching it closely. Especially since discord is quickly going downhill.
I ordered the Flint 2 a few days ago. I can report back how it is once it arrives. Sucks that I have to buy a second router, but the Asus one I originally got has been a real pain.

I’ll keep it on my radar.
Bubs@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.zip•Discord confirms it's moving toward 'becoming a public company' as it hires a former Activision executive as its new CEOEnglish1·24 days agoExcept they are missing voice calls on Android, and don’t (as far as I have seen) have video or screen sharing yet.
Those two alone make it a poor replacement at the moment for my friend group. I appreciate the simple setup and all the 1:1 features they have so far, but video and voice are the main things we use discord for.
I have it set up and will try to get some techy friends on board to play with it, but it’s not really there yet to move everybody over. Hopefully the eventually self destruction of Discord will give Revolt the push it needs to finally be a suitable replacement.
Bubs@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.zip•Discord confirms it's moving toward 'becoming a public company' as it hires a former Activision executive as its new CEOEnglish4·24 days agoSkype is dead, sites like ooVoo are long gone, TeamSpeak seems to be held up in part by game clans.
While I can’t say they actively killed the competition, they certainly gave plenty of services little reason to exist. Discord created such a good and new service, that there wasn’t any reason to leave it for a different service.
I don’t see why you can’t chill it. I would have to guess they say that so you don’t ruin the temper. Maybe chilling it speeds up the white film and they had lots of people complaining?

With the help of the other comment suggesting to measure the voltage of VCC, I was able to verify all the pins were working.
Bubs@lemm.eeOPto Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•[Solved] Looking for assistance figuring out how to fix this connector.English14·1 month agoI have the pin order now!
I (very carefully) tested the pins for a brief moment to verify it all was working.
First I verified the voltage of vcc as 3.5v. Red to that and black to ground worked with no problems.
I figured the blue was probably in it’s correct place so I tried it and got video.
Quick test with green have me LED power.
The male part of the plug is borked, so I’ll just solder the wires on. Might even fashion up my own plug if I’m feeling fancy. I’m sure I got some spare connectors lying around somewhere.
Did you just “Well akshually” the original movie line? On an edited meme about someone complaining about ancient copper? Lol.
Look guys! We got a silmarillion nerd here!
(I’m assuming that’s a silmarillion fact you’re arguing, otherwise I’ll look like a Muppet lol)
