  • There are stores in many European countries that sell DRM-free e-books in local languages. They might use the term watermarked instead of DRM-free. See if you can find one in your country. Because they are DRM-free, you can use any device to read them.

Many libraries also lets you rent audiobooks and e-books. Many European libraries have moved to using Readium LCP DRM for e-books. You will probably have to use their own app to read them, which means you can’t use e-readers, such as Kobo to read them.

  • https://gohug.eu/join/alternatives/ lists Exit 50 as a service for finding European alternatives. It gives wrong information about where companies are based in. For example, it claims that Brave browser is by a Swiss company, even though it’s American. At one point, it claimed that McDonald’s is a Swiss company, but now it doesn’t say where it’s based on. Excluding one alternative, all the alternatives for McDonald’s are American (such as KFC, Domino’s Pizza, Burger King), even though it claims otherwise. I’m sure there are many other examples. This type of service should in my opinion give accurate information. Because of that, I think it should be removed.
