So that does assume (and tbc, I think it’s a fair assumption) that impact with water and such doesn’t damage seals and that the laptop was shallow enough that pressure didn’t over come seals.
For the sake of hypotheticals, let’s assume water “did intrude” on the drives.
On NVMEs, I think you’ve got the right of it. There’s really no where for water to intrude upon (at least that’s my understanding of their construction). I suppose I could see some damage if the connectors were soaked while power was connected, but that seems like a real stretch of the imagination.
For SSDs and HDDs though, if they’re cases got (muddy river) water in them, seems like they’d be fucked. Maybe an SSD would be fine with no power, but the HDD would need all its disks cleaned before being spun up again (an unrealistic proposition, though not impossible - seems like forensics would more likely scrap the disks once disassembled).
Mostly looking to test my own knowledge on modern drive construction, so I’d love your feedback on how right/wrong I am there.

Tossing it in the river feels middling effective at best (though admittedly at minimal effort).
Anyone have experience with water damaged drives to comment on how effective that’d be at destroying data?

Because I recently rediscovered this, sharing here:
All right," said Susan. “I’m not stupid. You’re saying humans need… fantasies to make life bearable.”
REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.
“Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—”
YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.
“So we can believe the big ones?”
YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.
“They’re not the same at all!”
YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME…SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.
“Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what’s the point—”
MY POINT EXACTLY.

“In Hungary we have some examples of extreme right bands becoming mainstream because they’re on the top 40 chart. I mean, what’s more normal than being on the top 40?”
But which songs/bands? Are you saying its like a whole studio/record company pushing this?
“I have a stepson who sometimes sends videos and then I go down the rabbit hole to see who created them and it turns out it’s a far-right influencer.”
But which creators/influencers do we need to be on watch for?
“They’ve also started their own food delivery,” she said. “It’s just wild that you can be ordering food from the far right and not know.”
Do you mean the whole service is far-right? Can I get the names of services to avoid?
This article feels like it lacks substance. It seems to be saying “There’s bad guys out there. I’m not going to tell you who or where, but they’re there. Just trust me bro”. (In all fairness, they do point to tradwife influencers, but I assumed that was known).
That’s not to say that they haven’t actually found sources of right wing influence in each of these areas, but I was really hoping they’d bring the receipts on it.
I don’t suppose anyone here can point to examples of what they’re talking about with any of these? (Again, I’m aware of the tradwife stuff, so I’m good skipping that point).

Damn, I was hoping we could include an S so OP has to include multiple per friend.

This reads like an LLM trying to impersonate a human who is trying to impersonate an early generation LLM.
And I am here for it.

Lmao, love those descriptions.
It was more the second one (tho I think the dose was small enough to miss the full jerked off effect).
But it also wasn’t a full “being put under” (they said they were aiming for a full under situation, but that they really just needed to “turn off” my sensitivity in some sensitive spots), and so I have at least a fuzzy memory of everything that happened along the way.

I’m not sure.
I want to say they gave me two stages of anesthetic, but I also think fentanyl was the first of the two stages (counter to what you’re saying should have happened). But also, I’m at best an amateur at chemistry; even less when it comes to medicine. That said, reasonably certain what they gave me was not milky nor did it burn going in (you’ll have to excuse me if I misremember any deets, it was my first time going under and I was irrationally nervous about it)
I could have some things mixed up, but it did stand out in my mind that they used fentanyl (and I remember how fuckin’ nice it felt when they threw it in my veins). But that’s how I remember it.

Came here to say this. Glad I was beaten to it.

Had a minor surgery earlier this year. They gave me fentanyl as the drug to put me under. Was hella surprised about it. Also I see why people love that shit so much.
But also for fentanyl’s danger, I think it comes down to how small a dose you need to hit the LD50/50 point is so low that you can hit it by accident without even trying. Street drugs are also being laced with Fentanyl and not in safe / well regulated doses. If you had a lab grade supplier, it’d probably be safer / easier to do safely…but I don’t think that’s what people are doing…
Interesting that NYC does their swearing in at New Years. Is this a normal ish part of the big NYC ball drop ceremony? I’ve never noticed if it is.
