Riiiight. With the conversation all being around the US, I’d assumed your girlfriend was the one in the US. That’s very different then and frankly, bollocks to those in the US. So many of them believe the AoC is 18 nationwide so there opinion really doesn’t belong in the conversation. If your relationship is legal in Romania and your families are happy, I’d wish you two all the luck in the world.
The US is a very big place. I meant specifically since each state has differing laws.
In many instances, such a stipulation is assumed.
No offence, but it doesn’t matter what you believe. I’m not going to accuse you of anything some of these people are, just advise you read up on the age of consent where she is and not you. As an American citizen, she’s under the jurisdiction of the US. There are many states (the majority actually) where the AoC is lower than 18 just make sure she’s in one of them or you could risk being in serious trouble if you ever visited her, even after she’s become a legal adult.
Even most states have the AoC lower than 18. ~60 has it at 17 or lower.
That last part isn’t necessarily true. It’s often seen as a blanket statement that the age of consent in the US is 18 but that’s not true for many states. We don’t know where OP’s girlfriend lives and I’d say it’s entirely for the best he doesn’t, but for all we know she lives in one of the ~30 states where the AoC is 16 or the 6 where it’s 17.

DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.cato No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should naming your children stupid names be illegal?4·22 days agoDespite having heard the name Siobhan (pronounced Sheh-vaugn), I never saw it written until many years later and in an unrelated circumstance so I assumed it was pronounced “Sigh-Oh-Ban”. Irish names are insanely confusing for anyone who isn’t Irish and I’ll eternally argue there’s no shame in getting one wrong.

The recruiter part is still decently accurate but the hoops to jump through are far more plentiful and costly these days, if they’re even open in the first place.
You expect a higher calibre of joke. Nothing wrong with you.
Ironically, that would be treason.

I don’t get this. Are we boycotting American products now?
DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.cato No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are Nintendo's $80 online game prices a result of tariffs or is Nintendo just using them as an excuse to price gouge as corporations do?13·1 month agoLet’s put it this way, the market price for the Switch 2 is roughly the same converted price in the UK. Now, to my knowledge, the UK hasn’t also introduced these tariffs quietly so I can’t, in good conscience, blame ol’ Delusional Donald for this one.

Install something like GBWhatsapp. Whatsapp seems to do ban waves every now and again so there’s no guarantee on the time frame you’ll get banned (it took about 4 years for them to catch up with me) but it’ll more than likely happen eventually.

Yup. Armchair experts are just the best.
I remember it being said during the whole pandemic that dogs could but for all I know they’ve since proven that to be false.
