17·1 day agoMaybe slightly? But not worth turning away potential new users. We need more users.
Bots and spammers would just create accounts in advance and let them sit to get to the right age, it’d be the same.

28·1 day agoI don’t think we should be limiting new users from commenting or posting. And 7 days is a long time.
Auto closing communities would be really annoying, but I think dimming them or marking them in the lists/search results would be nice. I filed an issue on this already https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/3174 maybe if more people think this is a good idea they could leave comments there
Deus Ex runs way better natively than in PCem
With the Vanilla Fixer you can get 4k and 300 fps, works on Windows and Linux
Yeah I’m just wondering how common that is for someone that just wants to play games and browse the Internet
Yeah but either way I’m just using Flatpak and AppImage. Is that harder in Bazzite than Kubuntu? I think Bazzite uses Discover just like Kubuntu
Yeah but like which ones? I’m using Kubuntu, but everything I need is either Flatpak or AppImage, and it’s easier than Windows
Thank you, way too many people saying Ubuntu and Mint in here lol
You could try Kubuntu
I use Flatpaks in Kubuntu no problem, don’t think I have any Snaps installed
Flatpak and AppImage. What programs can’t be installed on Bazzite?
I agree with you, but Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu, especially if the user is coming from Windows
I added the backports ppa for Kubuntu and it gets updates quickly
I use Kubuntu with the backports ppa
When I need to help someone with a GUI, I ask them to send a screenshot and then I put red circles on it for them lol, or number labels on the things they need to click on.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI companies will fail. We can salvage something from the wreckage | Cory DoctorowEnglish
7·2 days agoHopefully we have ways to recycle the old chips. Some of the GPU chips could maybe be put on consumer boards? I’ve already heard of memory chips being recycled, except HBM of course.
Of course a lot of these companies would probably just prefer to put them in a trash compactor lol.

Gaming@lemmy.zip•IO Interactive have fixed the crazy PC specifications for 007 First LightEnglish
1·4 days agoLike, can you run the game + Discord + a browser on a 16GB system or not.
Typically that’s fine, otherwise 32GB would be the recommended system spec, because that’s normal behavior.
Also they likely never tested on a 12GB RAM system to verify if that satisfies the minimum requirements or not. I used to run 12GB on plenty of games that said they required 16GB, it’s usually fine if you close some stuff.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•If a Lemmy user has the same name as a community, how can I tag the community on Mastodon?English
21·6 days agoI agree. Users shouldn’t be allowed to choose a name that already exists as a community. But it would be a shame if communities could not be created because a user with that name already exists.

Nblood is a good source port, I think there’s a couple others too
