  • You’re obviously getting a lot of specific nutritional advice regarding what to eat, avoid, and how to behave.

    My biggest recommendation is to find support in creating a healthy relationship with food. No individual or category of food is “bad” but our behaviors and views can support or sabotage our progress.

    I highly recommend the podcasts In Moderation and Showing Up Anyway with Coach Adam. Also social media - I know they have accounts across platforms but on YouTube look for The Plant Slant, ScottyKFitness, Adam Wright Fitness, and Hybrid Calisthenics.

    Most people can force themselves into a box and create a habit for a period of time, but making long term changes stick needs healthy support and education.

    The cup is about 70% filled with ice before the drink goes in. I work in hospice and drive around to patients homes all day. I’ll occasionally hit McDonald’s in the morning as I start my day (bacon, egg and cheese bagel with a large coke zero sugar.) Unless my car is getting hot in the middle of summer, that drink will last about 4 hours with some ice left over. If it’s hot enough out to melt faster, well, I’m probably drinking it faster anyway because it’s hot out.







  • 20 years as a massage therapist - there are areas of the neck to be cautious of and there is never any excuse to do anything with force or speed to anything associated with the neck or spine. “No pain no gain” approaches in manual therapy (and expectations from clients) needs to die. That approach is abusive to both parties.

    There are many ways to provide touch that are both safe and therapeutic. I currently work with hospice patients (you don’t get much more fragile and complicated than that) but when I was teaching the bottom line I gave my students - if the skin is intact and you’re allowed to touch the area with the type of contact to bathe, then there are ways to provide touch for comfort with a positive outcome. Massage can take many forms and it should never hurt or create a threat.


  • Hi! Analysis-Paralysis here! I start planning my next move as soon as I complete my current move, but inevitably something changes board status the player before me so I have to recalculate. During recalculation my anxiety creeps up as I’m 100% aware people are waiting on me and I’m faced with 2 choices. 1) attempt to plan an effective move and frustrate others as my anxiety spikes, then once I make the move someone tells me how I could have optimized better. Or 2) say fuck it and just make a playable move to keep things going, ultimately fucking someone else’s game. At least it’s less often that I’m told how if I would just analyze everyone else’s known game state and abilities along with my own that the next move should be obvious to me.

    We’ve managed to find games that I enjoy and can process that I’ll participate in, and the others I’ll wish them well and step back.




  • The Sony earbuds I have have an “ambient sound” setting that actively brings in exterior sounds along with whatever you’re playing. Depending on the scenario sometimes I’ll wear my earbuds to send the “prefer not to interact” signal while not even listening to anything but with the ambient setting on. Yes, it’s like listening to the room with extra steps, but with the outward appearance that I’m not listening to anyone around me.
