She (similar to Reagan in the US) enacted a massive shift in government/society from a more social-democratic focus to a more (economocally) liberal one. Her big goals were to privatize and financialize as much as possible.
This ended up leading to (as it always does) massive increases in inequality, with particularly rural/industrial regions suffering heavily while the services/financial sector in London boomed.
So she is EXTREMELY polarizing. Many conservatives or big-business types worship her, while for many/most others she’s seen as the worst thing to happen to the UK.
I had this too! I think my high frequency hearing is just really good.
I recently was at a wedding and only the little kids and myself (in my 30s) were really annoyed by this device the venue had which used high frequency beeps to scare away rodents and things.

So now that it’s been announced that he should be “leaving government and going back to his companies” it led to a stock jump, since his presence is the only reason that the stock is worth a lot in the first place.
The issue is that Musk often sounds convincing when he talks about things you don’t really know much about, and there are a LOT of investors who have a lot of money but don’t really know much about anything.
ECB@feddit.orgto United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Infrastructure construction in Britain is defective. The most budget UK tramway is more expensive than the most costly french tramwayEnglish1·1 month agoI’m not sure if it’s a big reason, but one thing I noticed when living in the UK is that it seemed to be much easier for local landowners to block things from being built compared to other countries I’ve lived in.
I feel like the Thames path through London was kind of representative of that. I feel like anywhere else it would be a normal walking path along the river, but instead it has big gaps, sections that are private, or even some which are closed certain days.
Just the fact that they wanted to make HS2 go UNDERGROUND through large parts of the countryside was a wild idea.
The physical design was somewhat similar but if you look at old footage from cities you’ll see that walking on the street was completely normal.
There didn’t yet exist this idea that we have to leave 80% of the street exclusively for cars.
Huh, Süd was always my favorite
I did visit a Nord once and it was surprisingly unpleasant

Still no workaround?8·2 months agoIn general, US-based sites/companies are usually terrible with supporting multi-lingualism. It’s not really surprising I guess considering how monolingual most of the country/region is.
For years google maps has annoyed me, since I just wanted a good way to have German and English reviews not be translated, since both are common in my city and I speak both languages.
Somehow it randomly works sometimes and then suddenly will start translating them again. It’s very inconsistent.

Everyone is super upset about the current state of things, angry at Trump etc.
However, they are also generally just convinced they need to wait out these four years and then everything can return to normal.

It’s why his 3 main “targets” are Canada, Greenland, and Panama (for the canal)

As a non-native working in German, the numbers are one of the trickiest parts.
My jobs generally involve a lot of math and discussions of numbers, and I often struggle with swapping numbers around in my head. Especially because when you get to bigger numbers people often switch between (or use a combination of) listing individual digits left-to-right and saying multi-digit numbers.
The though is when you occasionally notice natives mess it up!
I can see what you’re saying, but at this point Elon is the most powerful person in the US, and certainly more powerful than any politician (even Trump).
I don’t think everyone realizes how unbelievably, dangerously rich Elon is. The dude is a moron, but he has enough money to buy out all of our politicians many many times over.

They have paid plans to keep your number, but I tend to just use new ones whenever one expires.
It might not suit your needs, but it’s worked pretty reliably for me for the past 10 years or so.

Just look up photos from back then.
Personally I would hate to have to wear a suit, but I can see why people like the aesthetic.
It’s true, but I also can’t bring myself to say it!
