My only problem with vsauce is that they post only once every 2 years now. But when a new video drops I still like it a lot.

2·1 month agoLooking at the polls anything leftish seems highly unlikely to me (at least right now). Die Linke is doing well relative to their own results from the past, but in absolute terms they poll still only slightly above 10% and the other parties that could be part of a progressive coalition are not doing much better.
That being said, the next election is scheduled to be in 2029, so who knows what will happen until then. We can always hope! 🤷♂️

53·4 months agoThe world isn’t black and white. Just because the USA is bad, doesn’t mean it’s opponents (in that case BRICS) are good. It sounds nice and easy, but that just isn’t the reality. All global players have some flaws (or are outright evil) and you can only figure out for yourself which of these bother you the least. Basically: “USA bad” does not implicate “enemies of the US good”

14·5 months agoMost of the time in favor of the last person he talked to, if that person knows at least a little bit how to handle him (and Putin most certainly does). As soon as I heard that they would talk, I knew he would drop some pro-russian taking points again.

21·5 months agoGive me some European competition please. I’m not happy about all of them being American…
There will be no other administration trying to roll back these things for at least 3.5 years and at that point a lot of the damage is probably permanent.
So I really wonder what the world (and the USA specifically) will look like in 10-20 years or so…

News@lemmy.world•Trump accused of ‘market manipulation’ with tariff pause
1·6 months agoYeah, it’s insane. Usually I don’t follow what Trump says 1:1, but read about it in some news article, social media, etc. That is bad enough, but when I actually hear him speak sometimes, I need to cringe so bad… And then I remember a majority of Americans either decided “yep, that guy seems the best option” or “can’t see a difference between the candidates” and I lose all hope in humanity.

World News@lemmy.world•US to withdraw from NATO under Republican billEnglish
22·6 months agoI would say the rest of NATO should be able to hold against Russia for sure, especially in its current state.
I would just be worried about short-term problems because of disrupted logistics due to the US withdrawing. Or maybe that other countries would follow the US in leaving.
But in the end, that is just my guess.

I 100% agree with you but I have a hard time convincing my team of that. And so we have a mess of a codebase… It’s not directly important to business, so it is secondary. And obviously nobody notices when fixing bugs take way longer or implementing new features introduces more new bugs than necessary, as it always has been like that. 🤷♂️
