I’m European, pretty much every single one of our cities are walkable regardless of country…but try moving around outside of major city centers or not between the major cities. flexibility and usability crumbles immediately. Transport times are absurdly long compared to distances as soon as you don’t move in/out of a major city (or god forbid, to/from a smaller town), often completely impossible requiring huge detours (often in to the city centers and out again) to get where you’re going.

I don’t even have a car anymore, I take the bus/train every single day to/from work and it fucking sucks…but it’s much cheaper, so that’s what I have to do.
I’m not sure i understand why hating being in close proximity with random strangers is self-centered…I assume they feel the exact same way.
Don’t forget the main selling point of car traffic; it goes directly from my door to my exact destination, and …and this is the big one…i don’t have to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with, or listen to, or smell the cloying stink of neaeby random strangers for the entire trip. make public transport have that, as well as the punctuality and better last-mile coverage, and it will be a sure winner.

5·1 day agoKnowing how to use your e.g. amp and different effects is as much an artistic skill as being able to play. Knowing how to select the color palette is as much a skill as doing the painting itself. What you’re describing is no different than me (with zero painting/drawing skills) being able to get a great detailed idea for a visual design and just using AI to get it in to existence.
Yes these laws are absolutely absurd

Technology@lemmy.world•Autofocusing Smart Glasses With Eye Tracking Tech Could Make Bifocals ObsoleteEnglish
8·2 days agoPlus “clunky” bifocals have way fewer moving parts and can be made with thin wire frames so they’re lighter.
As someone with clunky bifocals, the weight of the frame (even the chunky ones) is absolutely unnoticeable compared to the weight of the lenses. You don’t get thin wireframes for the lower weight, you get it because they’re less noticeable visually.

Well gecko > locust, so all I’m hearing is a happy story of how you fed a nice little gecko with a gross locust.

8·5 days agoIngogni is super suspicious and I don’t believe what they claim to do is even possible. But to me it’s what they claim to do that makes them suspicious, and that’s and entirely different thing than what proton does, and at least proton has documented audits to back up their privacy claims. INB4 the links to articles talking about proton complying with law enforcement requests, every company does that, even respected ones like mullvad. It’s not important that they hand over information they’re legally required to, it’s important that they save as little as possible so they can hand over everything without identifying you.
And also, any privacy conscious service is never better than your own opsec, so if you get caught because your recovery email was your apple ID, that’s on you and not them.
Hating cops and being racist is not mutually exclusive though
These laws specifically create liability for a person who serves a drink to a person who is obviously intoxicated. In a bar.
My point exactly! This is a function of being drunk and how a person acts. It has nothing to do with how much they buy. Come in and drop 100k (hyperbolic number) in “rounds for everybody!” Without drinking anythijg yourself and they’ll never throw you out or cut you off.
“Over serving” laws let’s them cut you off for being too drunk, not for buying too much.
They will never cut you off for “buying too much”, it’s always related to their behavior and never the fact they purchase a lot.

This is not even rural by any means…this is moving around in the suburban areas surrounding Copenhagen, or small-medium towns (20-30k inhabitants) and its vicinity.
