I’m unsure what sanctions relief US will precisely provide Belarus ( there were talks of opening the airspace, but here they talk about fertilizers and some trade), but it’s almost guaranteed that this sanctionrelief will give Ruzzia a new lifeline, prolonging the conflict and they counter the sanctions that are in place.
I’d welcome a future where Belarusians will be free.
This article creates a weird context. They are glueing here Trump’s intervention to the question whether the people want a regime change. I think those are two separate topics.
I don’t think anyone condones this Trump intervention, and I agree that it is disturbing and can have far-reaching consequences.
Apart from this, it’s Interesting to read how some journalist keep interviewing people living in a dictatorship and then call that public opinion. The quoted poll was made by a Venezuelan based company by a survey of 1200 ( maybe pre selected) individuals. Also according to UN officials the opposition has won the elections in Venezuela. If you wonder how the 8 million Venezuelans that have fled the country would feel about regime change per 12 dec 2025 ( The Hill):

Yes thanks I scanned that link, when you posted those later. I did find her work and methodology insightful. Especially her historical reference and creating a sort of Superpower Index. She uses references that to me aren’t always understandable. Like how to measure or guessimate GDP in the 19th century. But since her work was peercheked I assume her method should check out.
I get her idea, Russia is actually in China’s grip. Though I wonder where she got a verifiable Chinese GDP and population number ( I sure hope she didn’t copy the WTO numbers)
