I think we have that. It’s called Uber.

Technology@lemmy.world•Report: Apple CEO “cares about nothing else” Than Building Breakout AR Glasses Before MetaEnglish
3·8 months agoThis might be the dumbest take I’ve heard today.
Everything your smartphone does your laptop can do, too. Therefore, smartphones are useless!!
Everything AR can do that your smartphone can do today will be a hundred times more convenient because you don’t have to carry a slab of glass with you all the time. You just have to wear glasses. Like I already do anyway.
The only reason for smartphones to still exist in a world where AR is compact will be if we can’t figure out a way to efficiently input data without annoying everyone around us. As soon as that problem’s solved, nobody will be using smartphones anymore.

81·8 months agoIn theory, there’s a Million awesome business applications for it.
Let’s say you’re in construction and your glasses tell you exactly what to build where and how.
You’re a waiter and the glasses tell you which table ordered what, needs attention, etc.
You’re a network engineer and the glasses show you on every port which device is connected.
And don’t even get me started on the military applications.
Of course we’re not there yet. But that’s why they’re so obsessed with it. They want to be the first.
Peralezes place? If so, that’d be my answer too. I just love the contrast between his place and the city. It’s like being warm inside while it’s pouring rain outside.

59·8 months agoA non-issue??? That is absolutely an issue, because 90% of consumers won’t know about this fix. It’s outrageous that a consumer facing brand introduces such arbitrary vendor lock-ins, especially without reason. It’s just like HP with their ink lock. An absolute dick move and should not be supported in the slightest.

9·9 months agoCyberpunk on a smartphone chip? I believe it when I see it.
I have this notch in my MacBook Pro display, and system tray icons just disappear behind it once I have too many of them. I need a third party app like Ice or Bartender to fix this bug, and honestly, it’s embarrassing for Apple to not have fixed this in so many years.

4·9 months agoI’m sure there’s some legal text somewhere that states that deleting only refers to the association with your user account, but the actual genome data will still be kept “anonymized.” There’s just no way in hell that they’re actually deleting it all. Their lawyers are smarter than that.

Technology@lemmy.world•Edward Snowden slams Nvidia's RTX 50-series 'F-tier value,' whistleblows on lackluster VRAM capacityEnglish
9·11 months agoI totally get it, I live next to that big pain in the ass as well. Luckily, he hasn’t invaded us yet, but I feel it’s only a matter of time. And what Snowden does here certainly doesn’t help.
But he could have just done nothing and lived a very happy life. Instead, he chose to give up his happy life to uncover the NSA scandal, knowing full well that it will absolutely wreck his life.
Personally, I think he did enough for the greater good there. This isn’t his war, and if he has to post some lies to get a bit of normalcy back in his life, I can understand that. I wish it wasn’t that way, but I can understand it.

31·11 months agoThink of it from Snowdens perspective. You get to choose: either be tortured for the rest of your life, or chill in Russia and pretend Putin is a nice guy. I know what I’d pick.

5·11 months agoHaven’t watched the video but why is the keyboard popping out on one side on the thumbnail? Not having the front fall off seems more important to me than fast boot up times. But maybe that’s just me.
(Yes, this is partly a shitpost comment. Don’t take it too seriously)
Whenever this topic comes up, I’d like to refer to Robert Miles and his continuing excellent work on the subject.

I don’t get what the intended message was here. Is it just supposed to be funny picture or is there some deeper meaning behind it?
Because from what I can see muffin of value is going on here.
