Like the others i think your dad loves you. As na parent is perfoct he probably lost sight of you until he found the note and is probably happy to have found it.

The diffuculties he may have now are temporary (you probably get better and he learns to handle stuff more easily) and worth it, because else he would not have done something so drastic

The easier path for him would have been to get you stationary to a psychatric institution or something. And it meansa lot that he didnt
