I’m not prepared to just buy the “it was sexism” excuse, that’s a convenient one for Democrats to tell themselves - “oh, there was nothing wrong with the campaign we ran, Americans are just sexist”. If a man had done exactly the same campaign as Harris did it would have ended the same way. Fundamentally the Democrats went with a “you guys have to vote for us” strategy and figured they just had to win over right leaning voters instead, and they didn’t really win them over and lost chunks of the left at the same time. I’m not suggesting sexism played no part at all, but I’m not putting the blame solely or even mostly there.

On a similar note, I was playing through Dark Souls 3 on my PS4 and got invaded in the Grand Archives. I hate PvP but I always try to at leaat give it a go, but that doesn’t mean I’m above playing dirty so I used a Seed of a Tree of Giants while I waited for the invader to find me at the entrance. Eventually they did but I was sitting in a corner and as they got closer I rolled forwards and went on the attack. It wasn’t clever or pretty but we fought and I beat them, and a few minutes later I got a whiny message calling me cheap and accusing me of “R1 spam”, which kept me chuckling all the rest of the day

Sure, and more generally I’m sick of religion, but Christianity is the one that has the biggest impact on my life and so it’s where all my disdain goes. I still don’t hate religion, fundamentally it’s religious people that I hate, and they’d only be using something else if religion didn’t exist. But fuck me do I have no patience for Christians these days

I’ve always been fairly live and let live about religion, and Christianity in particular - some Christians are annoying about it, sure, but most of them I have always assumed are just having their own faith and happy in turn to live and let live. The last few years though I’ve really come to despise Christianity in particular, and the majority of Christians as a result, because of shit like this. Christians on the while really do seem just completely incompatible with a live and let live attitude, they need their particular view on the world (regardless of how actually Christian is) to be the way of the world and they will use every tactic at their disposal to force it on the rest of us

No, to be fair to you you didn’t, you just implied it in a “Just Asking Questions” manner. When the actual people involved are semi-regularly making statements denouncing each other as they descend into another bout of factionalism and in-fighting before - by your own admission - they’re even an actual party I think most people would say that that looks like a rolling disaster, it’s the gift that keeps on giving for a media that is likely already sharpening its knives for them because they don’t even have to make anything up. By all means, be a fan of the party that doesn’t exist if you want, but if I were you I would Simply Avoid reading any stories about them because they will probably just make you sad and lead to more of this, a half-hearted attempt to leap to their defence.

I actually truly hope that Your Party works out, because it would be nice to feel like I have another option to vote for now that Labour seem to be sunk-costing their way to becoming Reform-Lite, but all the evidence so far from its shambolic announcement onwards suggests that this simply won’t be the hope I’m looking for. If they can go the rest of the year without another falling out I might feel the slightest optimism but past evidence would suggest that that won’t happen.
