As a dev with several close friends who have combined decades of game development - you’re not missing out much. The pay isn’t as good as it needs to be for that amount of crunch, the big companies have so many petty squabbles and politics, and it’s a good road to burn-out. The engines have gotten good enough that making games is a matter of spending the time at night/weekends. Not glamorous, but can be fun and rewarding, even if you never ship.

For what it’s worth, something has changed in the past couple of years. I’ve now seen Dole Whip at Costco, and I know that the Hawaiian Brothers restaurant chain (fast casual Hawaiian, pretty decent overall) usually has two flavors of Dole Whip and it’s pretty spot on.

I hated them too. It takes a few weeks, but I still have a second set that’s only the near prescription, set for my monitor distance. The chicken-bob is the worst.

Make sure that you have them set on your head the same way each time. The glasses moving around on your head is a pain since those “zones of vision” move whenever that happens.

Are there better? The “fleets” brand leaves water spots. The Zeiss are lightweight and don’t seem to have quite enough liquid, but work reasonably well.
