Someone should put on Riders of Justice with Mads Mikkelsen and understand the bloodshed caused by one Estonian girl wanting a blue bike for Christmas.
Yeah it is funny how Disney has had this obsession with taking perfectly good movie and replace them with shittier, uglier versions that has terrible morals for kids all the while mocking and talking shit about their old films that were crafted by much smarter and more emotionally intelligent people.
I still found the whole Snow White debacle utterly insulting since Snow White - no joke - is in my opinion one of the best Disney princesses. The disrespect they showed her character by reducing her to a damsel who waited for a man to save her was unreal. But it was with her as it’s been with all their female characters the past decade: she has to be a Miss Man before she has any value and she must inhabit as many toxic masculine traits as possible before she is a supposed real feminist. And if anyone criticizes this direction, they are a bigot who hates women. No one hates women and feminine traits more than corporate feminists, lol.
And with Mulan it is especially tonedeaf because the entire point of her character is that she used her femininity to win the war because she could not be a man like she was expected to. She simply couldn’t because of her physical limitations. But her creativity and her female wit made her an asset to the army anyways.
So them making a live action remake where she Miss Man’s her way through everything and has magic powers literally defeats every single aspect of what made Mulan not just a fantastic Disney princess, but also an important legendary figure in Chinese culture.
There is a friggin reason why my favourite barbie dolls as a kid were Mulan and Esmeralda, but especially Mulan. Mulan was the girl I could relate to as a kid who never fit in anywhere but knew I had worth somewhere. Esmeralda was the woman I wanted to become as an adult, someone who sees past the surface level of others and accepts them as they are, because I too am a weirdo in the eyes of society.
You best believe I was relieved when they cancelled the live action remake of Hunchback, btw. They legit wanted to cast Gal Gadot as Esmeralda and professional twat Josh Gad as my boy Quasi. No way. I’m glad Hunchback is too spicy for current day Disney to touch it despite being the biggest social justice piece Disney ever made. Hilarious.
Sorry, I just get a tiny bit passionate about these old movies and how Disney systematically desecrates them with their cash grabby remakes that tons of idiots for some reason keep buying tickets to see.

5·17 days agoThe criteria for being considered a serial killer is 2 kills, so he is quite literally a serial killer. He is also famous because his case was brought forth in media and shook the idyllic, idealistic peace of 1950s America. Many people had never heard of such degeneracy and Gein was a both fascinating and repulsive case for people to follow as a result.
That said, few serial killers can top Albert Fish in my humble opinion. Had he committed his crimes in the 50s and not in the 30s where everyone were struggling financially, I’m pretty sure he would have been the most infamous serial killer in the world.
For me, their lowest point was when they decided to use concentration camp slaves to make their shitty Mulan remake and then thank the concentration camp in the credits. That along with the reports of how they screwed over their park employees during Covid were what made me decide to never again give Disney my money.
This is where these big movie companies are evil geniuses because they make it a point to have these old beloved franchises be remade with women replacing older characters and having them talk about how womanly they are and how shit men are and when people rightfully comment on it being some weird shit, they get called misogynists.
The whole gender and race thing going on within these types of movies are a deliberate distraction to make it impossible to criticize movie companies for making lazy, pandering slop instead of creating something new and worthwhile.
It was worked really well because now all people talk about is identity politics when yet another piece of shit movie is released instead of demanding that the movie companies do their jobs and make good, well told stories with characters people can relate to, not propaganda mouth pieces who have zero character to them other than what they represent in society.
I have actively avoided these movies despite being the target audience for many of them. I just don’t care to be pondered to and talked down to like I’m a retard just because I happen to be blessed with boobs and a vomb.
There are plenty of fantastic movies with women in leading roles that are well written and who are facing difficult issues that I would much rather watch than any of the branded slop Disney poops out every year.
Especially the horror genre has a fantastic track record when it comes to interesting and capable female protagonists, but I don’t løbe horror because it’s a female dominated genre. I love horror because it is one of the only movie genres in this day and age that still tries to make something new, innovative and interesting in movies and the fact that most horror movies are about women, isn’t really anything anyone talks about because it isn’t what makes the movies interesting. And that really is how diversity should be handled in most movies. Gender, sexuality, color of skin should not be the main attribute of a character because they aren’t in real life. Those are just one of many interesting aspects of a person.
I find it to be both unfair and super annoying how the Hollywood industry cultivated this divisive discourse among movie goers for a decade in order to get us to talk about their pos movies, defend or attack them so that they can get their bag, be praised for being forward thinking and ban all negative reviews for “discrimination” when they themselves are the ones creating this environment. They fully know what they are doing. Don’t get it twisted. I’m also 99% sure that their movies are money laundering schemes because I don’t understand how they can all cost os much money and still come out looking and feeling like bottom of the barrel shit. I have seen Hallmark movies with more ambition than what they produce at Disney.
Very good faith argument right there, lol.
Seems like the social engineering that Disney has subjected you to has worked well.
The way I see it, they have always used diversity as a shield against any and all criticism leveled at their lazy, corporate, shitty movies based on beloved franchises. Saddest part is that people like whoever made this comic completely gobbled up those talking points, ignoring the fact that these movies genuinely suck and are in no way empowering nor inclusive in any deeper way than on the surface.
I also say this as a woman who has tried several times to get into star wars and failed to find even the original trilogy appealing: every single sloppy movie Disney has shat out the last decade or so, with extreme few exceptions, has been some pandering, childish and condescending bs that makes me as a woman feel talked down to and I hate that they pretend like this is the best women can expect and that any criticism leveled as their piss poor products is supposedly attacks against us women and that Disney is somehow our defenders. Fuck right off.
It is a soulless corporate tactic to use diversity to snuff out conversation and criticism and anyone who falls for that shit is not someone I’d want to know, because ironically, I sincerely doubt a person like that is able to form any independent thought without having the corporate, pre-approved PC talking points fed to them through media.
Hilarious.
Lol. For me I just get impatient with AI. Most of the time the things I tried to use it for, it either couldn’t do, did poorly or did wrong. It was simply easier for me to do the shit myself instead of burning the planet by doing 50 prompts to get one useful result.
I tried it, learned about the environmental costs and then I stopped using it. The only thing its good for is for super basic bitch translations like that one time I didn’t know what a particular mathematical formular was like in English and I couldn’t find an answer after searching manually for awhile.
That’s the only time AI was helpful to me.
And honestly, I just don’t trust that is can help me with what I need it for 99% of the time because it just makes shit up constantly. I can’t justify using this tool when the only useful result I ever gave me was the correct way to say a mathematical formulae in English. That is just too fucking weak. I am much better at looking for answers myself, writing and drawing things than any AI will ever be because I know what the fuck I want and I can make it myself while the AI has no idea what it’s doing and only looks good to people who has zero reading comprehension nor visual literacy.
Like, I think AI music can be pretty good but I’m also a musical retard and I have no idea how to listen to music like a real musician, so to me it sounds good, but to someone who knows what they are doing, I’m sure AI music sounds like ass.
That’s me with AI writing and artwork.
I remember how people were bitching and moaning every year after 2016 that x year was the worst year ever. Ironically, that trend seemed to stop in 2020 when things started coming into perspective.
Careful now, my friend. These terminally online crazies are so thoroughly in the pit that they no longer realize that there is more in the world than politics. It’s like talking to crazy religious people who will argue about how God is everywhere and in everything every chance they get. There’s no point bringing normal reasonable perspectives into a discussion like this. XD if you don’t have the same opinion as them you are a fascist or some shit xD the diversity of thought on Lemmy is as plentiful and fertile as the surface of the moon.

2·28 days agoAye,why does this person look like Nietzsche?

Your algorithms must be very different than mine, because I have only seen this type of shit being uttered by bored women who are either stay at home or into the spiritual bs like basing their life decisions on zodiac signs or taking every personality test online and taking their results way too seriously. Have also seen it uttered by manipulative new age men who want puss, but mostly its something that goes on in those very stereotypical woman spaces where you’re either a sex and the city-woman or a new age hippie/influencer type.
It’s a very specific segment of the female population and weirdly enough, they can be anything from super left wing to super right wing to completely apolitical. The vibe is the same across the board, though, and it always gives me the ick when I run into people who have this über performative personality.
I had zodiacs entirely ruined for me because of these types of women. Used to think it was a bit stupid fun to read horoscopes and shit, until I ran into a few people irl who talked like this: “that’s so Leo of me. I can only talk to X because they are a Virgo and my sun is setting over my moon blah blah blah” and they were 100% serious. Those people will also walk around talking about being empaths without a hint of humor, and everytime I hear someone talk like that I remove myself from their orbit immediately.
Apparently the extensions aren’t reliable at all. I saw a video at one point where a guy went over why you cannot trust the extensions and how the numbers are pure fiction, but I forget the exact reasons. I think one example was that the same video would have vastly differnet numbers of down votes depending on the person with the extension. Something something confirmation bias.
For me, it doesn’t really matter. I still down vote when I dislike a video. They may not count my vote at all, but I still do it out of stubbornness.
I don’t think we can just wipe that turd off onto people with disorders. Most people have it in them to act like animals if they get the right encouragement.
There is also a difference between observing real fascism and talking about that, and then calling everything you don’t like or want to silence, fascist. There’s a very big difference and people should be more careful with words like that and only use them when it is applicable and not use it as a catch all slur. Then it loses its meaning. People on Lemmy use fascism for everything they don’t like. The irony is that some of their own behaviors on this platform has some of the same characteristics as fascism does. Not a one to one, but there certainly isn’t much space for differing opinions and there seem to be a wish for a world where only one set of values is permitted and it should be implemented through violence. That is how a lot of people think on here and I find it amusing that they point the finger at everybody else and any attempt at nuance is met with accusations of fence-sitting. People are very very special on this platform, as they are on every other social media platform.
But let’s not blame people with disorders for a behavior that is a universal trait of human stupidity.
The funny thing is that I myself am a leftist. Somewhere between a social Democrat and a socialist when it comes to my political views. I just absolutely detest the extremism I have noticed spreading on the left like a cancer for well over a decade now. I haven’t been able to talk about the kinds of politics I think are important and that matter for years because everything is distraction politics now. Everything is hysterical identity politics that harms minorities and marginalized people way more than it helps them or it is, as you also mentioned, all about violent revolution.
When Charlie Kirk died something in me kinda snapped. Not that I hadn’t already had my own fair share of snappenings after trump entered office a second time and I fucked off as many American owned platforms as possible. It was the reaction to Kirk’s assassination that absolutely floored me. Both in terms of how I reacted myself and how I saw everyone else reacting.
I felt nothing. I barely knew who he was because I don’t care much for people like him and don’t bother watching them. However, I used to be someone who would feel sorrow for anyone who gets murdered for their political beliefs as it goes against my core values. I was disgusted with many people on the left when the trump assassination attempt happened and people were cheering about that family father who got murdered. I was very vocal about how this is no way to have a democracy in a supposed modern, developed world.
And not even a year later I hear about Kirk and I felt nothing. I was absolutely apathetic after the 2025 Trump has given the world and how he has helps stoke the flames of hatred between people and countries too. For ever one good thing he tries to do and wants Nobel prizes for, he’s done at least five terrible deeds that has caused people and countries to fear for the future of the world. He is mirthful elephant in a china shop.
But I felt nothing for Kirk and it scared me how stripped of my compassion I have become in a year of constant strife between everybody.
The way other people reacted utterly disgusted me. Both Kirk’s supporters and the trump administration behaved like the caricatures they are, comparing him to Jesus or the apostle, they seemed to not really make their minds up on that one, and trump happily using a man’s death to further his disgusting, divisive politics.
But the extreme left? Mate. Lemmy truly showed its face during that episode. They were every bit the disgusting monsters they screech about every single day that everybody else is. I took a break from Lemmy after that. Checked in from time to time in the instances I liked, but it took me until recently, within the past week or two, to start using it again more regularly.
My boyfriend thinks that when America gets a new president and that president is hopefully someone who seeks to unite people instead of dividing them, things will calm down. I hope he is right. I certainly don’t see a platform like Lemmy naturally evolve into a positive place with productive conversations before the western world’s finds a way to become the adults in the room again. Because right now I feel like the world is being run by temperamental toddlers and that scares me.
In that sense, Lemmy is nothing more than a reflection of the infected wound that is western society today. People project all their frustration onto people who thinks differently than them, believe differnet things than them, love and look a different way from them, all when they feel trapped and helpless in their own situation. It is easier to blame and Witch hunt those whom you find fault with than to be forgiving of each other’s differences and hold on to that humanity that comes so easy during good times and is so hard to hold on to during the hard ones.
I recently read a really good memoir from a man who grew up in the brutal farmer society in Jutland, Denmark in the 1920s, 30s and 40s when the Germans came and took our country.
He puts it so brilliantly in his book, several times how hard it is to remain kind to your neighbor when your own situation is so dire. First growing up in the 20s in the aftermath of a terrible war, then the 30s where no one had any money and then the 40s with war and restrictions on everything. It shapes you. In his case it shaped a person who was forgiving of other people’s flaws. He understood hardship and had lived it always. He eas grateful for the small things and while he may not have fully appreciated it at the time in his youth when he was working as a farm boy on differnet farms where he worked himself into a hungry, tired beast that cared only for food and sleep, it later made a man who had an enormous empathy for other human beings. Even those whose opinions he didn’t care for.
I sometimes fear that many of us have grown up in too much comfort. We have been challenged too little. Then we meet a bit of hardship and we become animals immediately. It has been disheartening to see how easily people have taken to anti semitism in this day and age. We have no excuses for falling for it because we already know what it can lead to.
We do live in scary times, but what disgusts me so much is that we should know better, we have relatively the most comfort that humankind has ever had and still, we are such animalistic monsters the minute things gets a bit hard. He mentions this in his book, the old man from Jutland. How he worked on a farm in his 20s in the 40s, where all the animals were being treated really well. Too well. They didn’t get any discipline and that made them quick anger and violence when they didn’t get their way. One instance of some farm animals who thought he came to them with food and when he didn’t, they attacked him.
I feel like we are like those farm animals in a sense. We haven’t seen enough hardship so we make life hard for one another instead and think we are doing something important by screaming at one another on a stupid internet forum. I find it so embarrassingly tone deaf and out of touch when people tell me that any of what goes on, on Lemmy is important and productive political discussion. The same kinds of people who think that stabbing people’s car tires in the name of Just Stop Oil does a fucking thing to change the world. They don’t want to go the boring way, where you go talk to politicians, try to convince them with your words and with research and time spent on building a case for what you want to see changed. That is totally not the cool sexy way to do activism. No no. Let’s do vandalism and harass people and act like fools instead. That will make change. Let’s sit on our forums and call people fascist. That will make things better.
That is how I see things.
There is no perfect social media experience. Politics can and will and have always been a part of people interacting online, but it used to be more balanced where people would also talk about their interests and geek out about things that makes them, you know, happy.
Lemmy has plenty of potential to have that balance, but politics bleeds into everything and when I say politics I mean the most angry, vitriolic and hateful version of it. There are ways to talk about politics where it is fruitful, interesting and enlightening. On Lemmy it is none of those things. It is just angry people projecting their misery onto everyone and everything around them. It doesn’t get dumber than that and I want no part of it, so I block it.
Who said I’m ignoring politics? And btw using Lemmy to “stay informed” on politics is as goofy as using reddit, youtube or Facebook to “stay informed”. Social medias and politics is nothing but echo chambers where people leave their brains at home and go to scream at each other and be as unproductive as possible. It is brainrot.
I listen ti the news, talk to people in my real life and check official news sites when I want to get updated on the news. I don’t go to gossip sites like this where mentally ill people scream about fascism in every thread.
I think the most sobering thought is that everything we are dealing with now will someday be reduced to a cliffnotes version that some bored teenagers are supposed to learn about in school to get a passing grade. In one ear, out the other.

This is legit the best news I have read in such a long time. I almost can’t believe it is real. I’m hopeful this will be the start of curing these horrible diseases and giving people back their lives and their families back their loved one.
No illnesses scare me more than the dementia ones. I hope to never have anyone I love fall into the claws of that illness.
