I fuck numbers.

In Bangla, we call the color peyaji, which is basically “onion-y”. It’s also what we call onion fritters, and they’re absolutely delicious.
Edit: Just remembered that we also use it as a slang for fucking around. Not sure where that came from lol.

The idea is that someone is checking the code. And by building it yourself, you can at least ensure that you’re getting what’s built from the code. It is possible that some malicious stuff was inserted while building the binary that doesn’t show up in the source code. Building from source solves that problem.
Reproducible builds try to solve that problem by generating some provenance from a third party. A middle ground can be building the binary using something like GitHub Actions, since that can be audited by others. That comes with its own can of worms since GH is owned by M$, but I digress.
So it is technically sane to do it, just not very practical in my view. But for lesser known apps, I do sometimes build from source.

I mean, that’s not a Rust issue per se. It’s only noticeable because cargo is much better than most build systems, and hence is an actual option for distribution of software. But there should ideally always be a binary distribution. I know some people like to build everything by themselves, but I get it, it’s annoying.
Yep. Grew up in a village. We had flushing toilets that flushed into a septic tank.

It applies to the whole US admin.

I experienced it when I got to know that Richard Dawkins is a TERF.

What did Margorie Taylor Greene do again?

Yeah, like I can tell you about our communist history, or our surrealist poetry. But then you’ll call me an extremist, or even worse, a nerd.
So I keep those for when I get drunk and overshare, and just talk about fish recipes and desserts.

That’s the main reason I switched to Navidrome and downloaded a ton of flacs. No one’s stopping me from drinking whiskey in the bathtub listening to sad music during my monthly breakdown.

We thought we’ll get artificial intelligence, but all we got was organic stupidity.

Yeah, that’s a critical difference between social democracy and true socialism. Socialists are against exploitation anywhere in the world.

Neoliberals, and even more so social democrats, are among the most (effectively) conservative candidates in a certain sense. With the understanding that pure capitalism is so unsustainable that it will eventually destroy itself, social democrats, by undoing some of the harm caused by capitalism, only seek to conserve it.
Of course, I think they’re (social democrats, not neoliberals) a better choice for now, since they don’t work to actively harm the working class. But in the long run, they are what’s keeping capitalism afloat. I don’t know what’s the way to escape the clutches of capitalism without causing complete societal collapse, but social democracy ain’t it.

Man, I know it’s wrong to hate a whole country and its people. But Israelis are making it harder for me to stay reasonable. There doesn’t seem to be single thing that they’ve done in the past few decades that’s not horrible and disgusting.

I think you’re reading way too much into it. We Indians (most of us, people in the South often flip it) write our names similar to the west i.e. family name last. But we definitely have a “family first” culture.
I just started reading The God of Small Things. It’s been on my list for a while. But I have to read so much for my work (I’m a math researcher), that I rarely have the energy to read fiction. Thanksgiving break gave me some free days, and I guess that worked out well.
OTOH, man, it’s sad to see SDF going down so frequently. Anyone has any recommendations for alts? I just want decent uptime, and lax federation policy. (I like to choose who I block.)

Symfonium is great, and in its current state, probably the best Subsonic client for android. (Tempus is good enough for me though.) But best of luck if you ever have a nontrivial issue and ask the dev for help. That’s one abrasive mf. (Just take a look here. It’s hard to find anyone so full of themselves.)
That said, if it works for your needs, it’s a great app. I won’t judge anyone for using it, but I’m someone who can’t and won’t separate the art from its artist. If that applies to you, you’ve been warned.

On Android, you should try out Tempus.
Same in many other places. Around 2015, I remember recharging with a prepaid package that gave me 100 messages/day. (I think it was like ₹10/day). I used to save from my lunch money so that I could text my then gf. Man, I was so happy when she finally got a smartphone.
