Science@mander.xyz•China completes most powerful hypergravity centrifuge
2·7 days agoIts weight limit is 19 MN. You can divide it in any reasonable product of payload mass and apparent gravity you want.
Doubt
You’re assuming that it has the ability to spin faster at lower loading. There’s certainly an upper limit to how fast it can go (because of motor limits, gearing, etc).
In reality, the limits for this machine are probably best described by a payload vs. speed chart.

Science@mander.xyz•China completes most powerful hypergravity centrifuge
141·7 days agoDid a little research on this thing. Its capacity is 1900 g-tons, meaning that it can take a payload of 1000 kg (one metric ton) and spin it to apply 1900 G’s.
Is 1 ton it’s weight limit? Dunno.
Is it limited to 1900 G? Dunno.
The “compressing space time” statement is just poor journalism. They’re referring to the fact that they can perform accelerated testing because of the higher limits. Basically, a test might take 2 days instead of 10 because it can go harder. Yes, it’s that stupid.

Well, that’s random. Lol.
Sorry, but no. It was inspired by a character from Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC)

News@lemmy.world•Shredded cheese sold in dozens of states recalled due to potential for metal fragment contamination
1·1 month agoI have to concede that my experience is entirely a way-too-small sampling of the entire industry, so it’s entirely possible you are right here. However, in my experience, the factories that I’ve been to (granted, not ALL of them) have been incredibly clean and well-maintained and follow very strict guidelines for making sure their product is safe. Obviously, the consequences of delivering a product that is not safe are quite dire (noting the Boar’s Head example and the recent ByHeart recall).
On that note, I never visited the Boar’s Head facility, but one of our customer service reps did and they said it was downright nasty. No wonder they got infected.
By the way, listeria contamination is probably the WORST thing that happen to a food-producing factory. This bacteria is incredibly dangerous and very, very hard to get rid of once detected. I’ve known factories that decided to relocate rather than try to deal with an outbreak.
