They were reinstalled days later after the backlash. Their spokesperson was spewing all kinds of BS. “The tweet was a mistake” “the benches were unsanitary” etc. I’m not sure if these are the same as the benches before before it looks like they’d be hard to lie down on anyway.

I mean, we fucked up the world for centuries so it’s gotta be pretty high. Would you blame Native Americans and indigenous Canadians losing their language on the English or the Americans/Canadians out of interest? We certainly got the ball rolling, but the new North Americans saw it through.

0·2 years agoI mod a couple of communities I missed from Reddit. I’ve been stealing content from there to get the communities going (using the dystopia app so no ads and I don’t interact with Reddit at all). It’s honestly a bit jarring to read the nastiness/aggression in the comments after 5 weeks on lemmy. It’s so much nicer here, I hope we don’t lose that vibe completely as lemmy grows.

I’m immunosuppressed so even though I’ve had 6 vaccines now, I still might not have built up enough antibodies to help me survive covid if I catch it. I don’t really go anywhere and wear a mask when I do so I’m as safe as I can be… Except I need a carer to help me out for about 8 hours a week and an unbelievable amount of self employed carers aren’t vaccinated. These are people who work with the elderly and vulnerable and they refuse to get vaccinated. It’s absolutely mind boggling to me.
