To be fair, some Bible verses are pretty funny

If you were a tankie you’d open your comment with a 7 paragraph on why you’re not a tankie, followed by a dissertation that would make a HD2 autocannon proud by deflecting so much
Vintage Story ahh meal

Gaming@lemmy.world•Is there a trick to controllers that I'm missing?English
8·4 days agoIt’s been more than a decade since I’ve played a shooter with a controller, so idk how much of a difference this makes.
When you need to make small horizontal adjustments to your aim, try strafing instead; when that isn’t possible, and if you’re using some low-ROF semi-auto weapon, swing your reticle around the enemy, turning a matter of precision into a matter of timing.

ARC Raiders@jlai.lu•Arc Raiders interview: Embark talks behavior-based matchmaking, map updates, and playing nice with strangersEnglish
2·8 days agoCounter counter point: there’s an achievement for killing other players with snitch scanners and one for making arc shoot each other with lure grenades, so they can probably factor that in
Counter counter counter point: those achievements don’t even work :C

51·30 days agoIt sure would be nice if we had a word for problematic behaviors, most often psychological, having to do with hedonistic over-indulgence at the expense of one’s health, and usually addressed with therapy…

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The ancient Greeks or Chinese should have already had words for this.English
6·1 month agoWithout rigorously researching the phenomenon, I’d put myself in the 2, edging towards 3 - I can visualize things with however many details I can see with my own eyes if I focus a little, but instinctually I only see vague shapes that serve their purpose in whatever scenario I’m thinking of.
I can rotate objects and remember the back-face details;
I can picture a moment from a story I was reading, where a bipedal nocturnal lizard in a cramped spaceship violently recoils from having a flashlight pointed at its eyes;
I cannot quantify the spacing between its eyes compared to the height between those and the tip of the nose as seen by a front-facing isometric projection, even if it’s all a fiction and I could just make things up.Basically my mind is running Unreal Engine 5 with medium settings, low LOD and AI generated textures - which would also explains a lot of other things now that I think about it.

181·1 month agoI’m not as puzzled about the concept of aphantasia (or the opposite) as much as the fact that people here, and two I know IRL, always self report as either 1s or 5s, with a handful of exceptions (ATTOW).
Is there a selection bias, where anyone in-between doesn’t relate to either extreme enough to comment, or do said extremes conflate the ability to “picture” fine details with the ability to remember them in the first place?
.2 would be unfeasible, teams of friends would have a huge advantage over autofilled teams by using third-party software (Discord, mostly) to talk;
besides, at this point, is it even possible to find teams that don’t SOS?

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Why do game devs keep making horrible Linux Ports?English
8·2 months agoOn paper, a Linux version of a game would perform slightly better, because they wouldn’t have to use Windows system calls for synchronization and disk I/O.
This seems to be true for the games in my Steam library that have good Linux versions, though I can’t comment on the performance of bad ones because obviously I play those through Proton.

Wait hold on… why’s that? Is there any juristiction where there are traffic laws, but no stop signs?
