  • Joynes was suspended pending a police investigation. But this did not stop her from inviting a second boy to her apartment for a “date night” that involved an Ann Summers scratchcard of sexual activities.

She became pregnant with the boy and gave birth last year, but the child was taken away from her.

This is sickening! The fact that she only got six years is a severe injustice to those two boys and the unfortunate child that was conceived in such a manner. Let’s not “both sides” this: sex abuse is sex abuse. As @MrSulu@lemmy.ml pointed out, this will probably get some attention among far-right chuds for about week and get forgotten. It won’t solve any issues and one more kid will fall into that hateful ideology. I hope the two boys get the help they need and that baby gets a good family that will look after it.

(Also, I had to look up what “Ann Summers” was in the context of this story and now I feel like shooting my laptop)

Do you, by chance, know the differences in battery life between a tablet vs a dedicated e-reader? I’ve heard, though I don’t know, that e-readers have better better battery life since e-paper used less power than blue light screens. Battery life won’t the deciding factor in my choice but long battery life would be a huge plus.

  • DRM shouldn’t be a problem thanks to software like Calibre and websites like Gutenberg and Zlibrary. The Kobo does seem geared towards long reading sessions and reading along with an audiobook. The Boox, on the other hand, seems to combine the best of e-readers (e-paper and e-ink) with the modability of an Android device. Since you’re a Kobo user, I have to ask: How easy is it to add “alternatively sourced” ebooks to the Kobo? Is it done through Calibre? Can I also use third-party reading apps like KOreader? Since the Boox is Android-based, I have a rough idea of of adding ebooks and installing alternative reading apps but I don’t if the process would be different on a Kobo.

Don’t give Epic your time or money. Putting aside Fortnite and their pro-AI stance, they forsake the Unreal Tournament series. That’s just unforgivable.

As for Hogwart’s Legacy, the game is decent and even fun at first but gets repetitive quick. Bully from 2006 is a similar game minus the magic and lucrative IP attached. A shame it didn’t get a sequel.

And as for J. K. Rowling, forgive me but she’s a cunt. I wasn’t huge on Harry Potter when growing up so I don’t have any nostalgia about the series - be it the books or movies- but I know many of you do. I also know that many of you are LGBTQ+ so how you decided to reconcile with the series is up to you. While you can separate Rowling from your affection to the series, don’t give her any more your time, money or attention.
