yeah I stopped playing games where you have to pay for new characters (or unlock them by earning the “free” currency, it only takes 100 hours!) 9 out of 10 times, the new character would be completely busted in the sense of balance so if you didn’t but them, you’d fall behind. Pay2Win, but hidden a bit better.

If I had to guess it’s because Apple controls both hard- and software. Sleep is a delicate business where both the OS and the hardware have to work together to get it right. Linux and Windows run on an endless combination of different hardware components whereas Apple knows exactly on what hardware their OS will run.

Thank you for the notice. This is a really bad look on the project. Thankfully I still have a version from before the takeover installed and disabled auto-updates just in case. Though I suspect f-droid will not accept builds by this person until trust has been established.

You would use a Wine Prefix Manager like Bottles or Lutris (both on Flathub). Steam itself does prettymuch the same or similar things as these.

Unsurprisingly. Games have gotten way more expensive and a lot more soulless. Gems like BG3 are a rarity. The recently released “enhanced” edition of Neverwinter Nights 2 is an awful cashgrab and an disappointment after the successful enhanced edition of the first one so I’m just playing through the original release with an unofficial patch again…The only game I’m looking forward to this year is the new Anno and given that Ubisoft has its fingers in it I’m still wary about that one.
Keep in mind that legal/illegal can (and often is) be different from ethical/unethical. In a perfect world, laws protect everyone equally from unethical behavior. But nowadays, law is more and more misused to protect the upper class and oppress the lower class. Not saying it wasn’t so before already, but it’s leaning that way a lot stronger in recent times again.
There is a difference between “I don’t have the energy to care about everyone” and “empathy is toxic”.
It’s amazing to see in action. I have a colleague who insists our work should demolish the parkinghouse for bicycles and designate that zone for car parking. When I told him that the people commuting by bike would then go by car and needed more parking spaces than would be created by this measure, it was like his brain had a bluescreen.
