I can only think of myself inside that thing as a ballast: keep vomiting and passing out until eventually dying (good gracious, just imagine someone made this as a torture device)

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•surely your hobby can't be that expensive
3·25 days agoUnfortunately yes. I used to play many years ago, loved (and still love) the game format. But after the release of modern masters at the price they did, I knew things would never get better. Wizards and Hasbro are in on the card evaluation market. They could, at ANY time, squash it. They decided to foster it
If I am not here for recreational drugs, I am here for the pay check. What else you want from me then??

1·1 month agoThe reason I suspected temps was I changed very recently to a define r6 (got it second hand). And since the start I am a bit suspicious of how it performs thermally (terms of sound is actually quite OK).
I do have a fan on the drives but still one of the drives goes up to 40C still (even with front door open).
Also, when you talk about fsck, what could be good options for this to check the drive?

1·1 month agoI am also inclining in this direction. I just ordered a new 8tb drive, and will proceed with smart long tests. When you talk about secure erase, are we talking using dd with /Dev/null?
I am sad because unlike this cat, I can’t lick my nose

4·2 months agoThose are good points. As I stated on another comment, out of safety and other stuff getting your code in the car sounds very difficult to allow, unless we would all agree that some sort of attestation would “certify” that you are not doing some whacky stuff on your car.
However, I do have a sort of counterpoint to all this (and can be considered a hot take): the dash system, architecture wise, should not be allowed to touch anything on the vehicle operation that involves either safety or driving. Meaning for example, you can (and should) be able to blow the ac with the dash, but never the park brake.

2·2 months agoI find all of this very interesting. Seems I was wrong about Linux and cars not being there. That being said, and considering the terms to create code on top of a gnu license, where is the code at? I would be shocked of any of it is actually open and visible

3·2 months agoThat is very interesting. Question is, are we allowed to look into it at very least? I imagine not (I can understand change would not be allowed unless there was some audit process to ensure security, but at very least see what’s there)

311·2 months agoThat’s rich. Not too long ago they had appauling security issues with their cars, now they think they can just paywall this? As usual, priorities are out of whack (Linux on cars, when?)

1·2 months agoI did know about zabbix before, and I actually did try to install it before using the proxmox helper scripts page. Somehow, by the end I got a blank page. Hence I made this post to see more alternatives.
I do know zabbix is super recognized in this area. I just did not install it successfuly on my previous attempt

1·2 months agoI will check how that one works. I was not planning to have another machine to do dadhboarding, bit maybe there are ways to host this as a VM or lxc and make it that way

I had issues with this as well, in my case it turns out he wanted to be warm, like very warm. I am not kidding, we are talking 3 hot water bags to setup the bed and leave 2 after he was in
