  • You need to make it fun and engaging for them. That is what the far right is doining. You and I might find it reprehensible, but they het som much traction bu having fun and giving young men a purpose and the feeling that they are doing something to netter themselves and their commuity.

How you go about that I dont know. In my local area we are focusing on having fun partiets and going out together as a group instead of just being political nerds in our own little grottos. Som far it seems to be working.

Tl;dr: Have fun visibly and invite them to join you. It takes forever, but at least you have fun while doing it.

  • Started playing with Linux in high school about 15 years ago and have gone further and further down the rabbit hole as both Linux has become soo much better and I have become so much better at using it. Been working with Linux full time for a few years now and Windows feels so foreign and difficult too me now.

Only reason I still have Windows 10 on my gaming PC still is that I game so little that I haven’t been gaming much in the last few years.

    Glad to have you here!

  • You probably need to try to figure it out. I quit porn cold turkey as that was the only way I coulddo it. I have tend to become addicted to caffeine and candy (sugar) if I’m not careful, so I’ve quite those several times. Tried both cold turkey and gradually for those and found that reducing fast and controlled work for those. So going from 5 cups of coffee a day to 2 a day for a week, to maximum one a day for a week to 2-3 cups a week.

  • I’m almost exclusively using tech from before the pandemic (desktop from 2019 being the oldest) and it’s such a blessing not having the time to keep up with new games. I’m convinced I won’t need more powerful computers before 2030.

I was dumb enough to get a new Samsung phone last time I needed a phone so the battery will likely be toast long before that, but in terms of power my old Samsung S9 (2018) is still plenty.

It’s wild to me that gamers are still expected to upgrade their rig every other year or even sooner.

  • It makes a ton of difference actually. I can speak for Norway, currently we have 9* parties in Parliament, 3 on the left, 3 on the right and 3 in the middle that could align themselves with either side, and they do flip from time to time.

If the coalitions formed beforehand we would very likely put the Communist Party in with the left, but Labour actually prefers to work with the Conservatives (their main rival) over the Communists most of the time.

More parties also gives way more nuanced choices, we have 3 parties that have environment and climate change as a top priority, one on the left, one on the right and one in the middle meaning that if climate change is your biggest concern we actually have real alternatives. To continue on the climate rail; the power realtion between the Liberal Party (right/green) and the Progress Party (hard right) will matter a lot if the Conservative party get form a government after the elections.

We see a lot of deals going across the traditional left/right line which makes the political process and campaigning a lot less toxic, and if some big issue is not raised by the big players some a smaller party can campaign on that or we can even start new parties.

*There’s also a non-party representative that in essence got elected to save a local hospital. Kinda wild that the locals got so pissed that enough of them “threw away” there votes to get her elected on a single issue.

That said, there are obviously problems with too many parties, but I think around 6-10 is probably good.
