I want to build a wall to keep non Oklahomans out of Oklahoma.
We’re not the same
I remember reading this in uni and that I liked it, but I have absolutely no idea what it’s about.
Looking forward to rediscovering it.
Here’s a good Rob Words Video about reading German as a (native) English speaker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VebSZrHmsI4

31·21 days agoOr don’t even tell the other guy. Just make a new group chat and invite the new player into the existing campaign.
If they behave badly enough to kick them from the table, ghosting them in general doesn’t seem unreasonable tbh.
Seas in the Pacific Ocean which are treated differently: the South China Sea and the East China Sea. Countries bordering these seas (e.g., Brunei, Vietnam) are classified as having coastlines on the South or East China Seas, not the Pacific Ocean.
I don’t know why they do that, but those are the rules. You can click the categories to get this info.

Technology@lemmy.world•OpenAI says dead teen violated TOS when he used ChatGPT to plan suicide - Ars TechnicaEnglish
61·1 month ago“You are a friendly and supportive AI chatbot. These are your terms of service: […] you must not let users violate them. If they do, you must politely inform them about it and refuse to continue the conversation”
That is literally how AI chatbots are customised.

Gaming@lemmy.world•Three developers' different philosophies on difficulty for their gamesEnglish
61·2 months agoLet’s take Elden Ring as an example: how do you scale poise? Is the player harder to stagger? Are enemies easier to stagger? How about status effects? Can you trigger hemorrhage with less hits on low difficulty? Dodge frames? Parry timing?
That’s just off the top head, there’s tons more mechanics I’ve never even touched in there.
Combat systems (which is 95% of what difficulty affects) can get so much more complicated than just HP/Armor. And that makes scaling more them just percentages of damage in/damage out.
I’m not saying it can’t be done. But it’s a gross injustice to blame lazy devs for not implementating a system that probably takes weeks if not months to create and balance.

Bicycling@lemmy.world•Cycling in the rain is as easy as walking in the rain: just wear raincoatEnglish
1·2 months agoRain pants and overshoes work really well.
The pants just go over your regular pants and can usually be opened up so they can be put on/off while wearing shoes. And if you layer them correctly (pants over shoes), no water gets inside.
The only major downside is that they can get very warm.

5·2 months agoUnfortunately this doesn’t support Roomba.
I am running my Roomba fully offline via HomeAssistant now. I can’t access the cleaning maps, but the rest works well (granted, all it could ever do is “start” and “return home” in the first place).
Funnily enough, the robot is continually panicking about the time now, it literally pings an NTP server every 10s (which is blocked by my router)

4·2 months agoHe has always had the tendency to overhype his games by a lot. But while he just burned money for over a decade now, he has created some pretty good games before that (Dungeon Keeper, Black and White, the Fable series).
