I had switched to Gemini not realizing its scope, and suddenly Gemini was needing voice permission then some other seemingly unrelated, unnecessary permission (can’t recall exactly but something like collaborative documents) to add to my grocery list. Fuck that. Then it seemed very difficult to find the setting to switch back to Google assistant, but I eventually found it.

With Trump it’s hard to know with certainty what will happen, between flipflops and flat-out lying. I think the speed with which the various government agencies collapsed/capitulated before Musk & DOGE, and the capitulation of universities over Palestine protests and ICE, were not things anyone could predict. One could predict the rest of the Republicans would go along with all that stuff, but surprised the Democrats are not always fully unified against.

And then you have Asian Americans, who just want to be considered Americans. Probably every American born Asian has been asked at least once in their life “Where are you from?” and has their [location in the US] answer rejected with “No where are you really from?”, as if it’s impossible for an Asian to be American born - they must be foreign born and an immigrant. Asking about ethnic origin, ancestry, or even family are more semantically accurate terms that won’t make the person questioned feel like they don’t belong.

Being the lesser of two evils was just not enough. The Democratic party has been failing to appeal to the working class and alienating groups of what are normally reliable Dem voters by neglecting them.
I was actually curious about this several years ago. In 2020 I started two investments, one has investment decisions made by a team of people, the other is not billed as AI but automated. I started them about the same time and with the same amount of money. 5 years later they are still nearly the same, the automated one slightly higher than the human one much of the time but not always.

If you had uBlock origin already, you may have gotten a message through Chrome that it was no longer supported, so it’s been disabled, and gives you the option to remove it. I noticed you don’t have to remove it, and it can be re-enabled. However, I need someone smarter with adblockers than I to say if this is actually helpful and not hazardous.

I have not heard of any of Green’s antics because Trump’s antics are what’s consuming the headlines. Seriously, what a load of bullshit. I’m increasingly disgusted with Democrats’ lack of response.
I’m in California where we have a grocery chain, Safeway. They’ve had a loyalty card for decades, which works great, gets you good deals, can be scanned by the checkout clerk or at self checkout. It also racks up points which can be used for discounts.
About 2 years ago I started seeing signs in the store offering even greater savings through the app. There will sometimes be 2 signs side by side for the loyalty card vs the app. The app is always a better deal.
So I downloaded the app and learned
It’s the dumbest thing ever. Why not just offer the better savings to the loyalty card? Isn’t that the whole point behind loyalty? I literally shop at Safeway less often now.
