I get it. But also I have about ten content creators on YouTube that I love that aren’t hosted anywhere else other than scalping reposters. I try to go there and only watch the handful of new videos from those channels but occasionally I get sucked in by the algorithm with other videos I end up liking pretty well.
Some people don’t want to hear this but Mastodon will never be mainstream without major changes. Even Mastodon users are all on other platforms. I’m not planning to go to Bluesky tho.
Fix suburban and semi-rural neighborhoods - and by that I mean make them walkable and bikeable with public transportation available, and make sure 95% of what you need is in every neighborhood.
THEN you can squeeze out the old systems. Otherwise you have under-resourced people with no access to anything they need stuck in their homes waiting for their much accelerated deaths.
That’s so far from an American reality, it feels like a looming poor suburban genocide. Bike lanes are awesome. But there are FAR more places where they don’t exist than where they do.
I’d buy that debt for a hundredth of a cent per dollar.
As other people have mentioned conversation starters, interesting social props, and such, I have to circle back to your original post. You spoke down of printing it on your shirt. I say, don’t print “single and ready to mingle” on it. But something like, “Ask me anything”, you’d be surprised. I was an information resource for a big event and they had a half dozen people in shirts that just said Ask me with a big question mark on it. After the week was over I would sometimes wear the shirt and would have lots of people stop me because of it.
It’s perfect for hiking or running. Not so much for just sitting outside in the rain.
He only got reelected because Democrats seemed to care about twenty other things more than the working class. If they can’t figure that out things are only going to get worse. They’ll probably get worse no matter what, the only question is who people will blame. It should be the elite class but they’ll blame poor voters on the other team and nonvoters instead.
The spice! It doesn’t really hurt but I’ll eat spice that makes my nose run and tears run down my face. And even difficult to swallow, but I legitimately enjoy it.

My intestines put me in the hospital last year but I can’t give up spicy food. And I mean really, really spicy like most people can’t handle. Apparently my body can’t handle it either but I just love that hurt so damn much.

We go through all the trouble of making signage without language barriers and still can’t communicate, it’s ridiculous. I would 100% misunderstand European signs in a quick moment even knowing what they should mean, because I have to unlearn 40 years of sign instinct.
I drive everywhere. Yeah, I know, fuck cars. But honestly they’re tracking everyone’s movement. Have you noticed all of the intersection cameras that have popped up everywhere? Fuck the authoritarian surveillance state.
