Because it just works. After being with computers all day fixing the insane problems that other people create I just want to come home and press buttons and have things work

ghen@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Trump, in blue, sleeping at Pope Francis' funeral16·17 days agoHeads of state generally keep their cultural garb at meetings regardless of country. It’s why it was double stupid to insult Zelenskyy the way they did. But this faux pas is a distraction. There’s no use wasting energy on Trump’s outfit when he’s deporting infants who are us citizens.
I think that would require a revolution in Japanese culture first.

ghen@sh.itjust.worksto Reddit@lemmy.world•Got Permanently Banned from Reddit for Criticizing trump & edolf. Who Else Here for Similar Reasons?1·1 month agoThey probably banned you for something that happened at least 24 hours before the ban hit because they’re just slow. My account was banned a week after I had replied to a racist troll trying to figure out if they were being racist so that I could ban them on my subreddit, and my comment was flagged as racist. I had already banned the user and hidden the thread, but that wasn’t good enough for Reddit and I needed to go.

Is there only one website?
Yeah I’ve been in this experience. One of my accounts got Perma banned. I was moderating my subreddit and trying to clarify if a bigot was being bigoted so that I could ban him without remorse. Apparently my clarification sounded bigoted so Reddit banned me with no recourse.
I was never able to talk to a human being, all attempts at trying to restore my account were met with computer no’s. Even my whole mod team messaging reddit on my behalf got struck down with automated responses.
I logged in to my second account, got that re-added to the mod team, and continued on. Apparently their bans are as pointless as they are confusing.
That about sums it up [deleted]

The overall story about why the author did it is interesting, because it is part of his ongoing hatred of how the fans treat the property.
ghen@sh.itjust.worksto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Anyone notice how Brian Thompson dies and suddenly aliens start attacking?14·5 months agoBecause we’re all so sick of it. If there ever was going to be any proof then we would have found it via leaks, The James Randi prize money, or even heck Trump’s first presidency when he said he was going to leak all those secrets.
It also doesn’t make any logical sense for anything outside of our world to have enough scientific know-how to get here undetected and somehow be seen floating around by random people using just their eyeballs.
It’s stupid, boring, and used as a distraction for stupid boring people.
ghen@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When leftists say "landlord are parasites" or similar dislike of landlords, do they also mean the people that own like a couple of houses as an investment, or only the big landlords?1·5 months agoThat’s the kind of answer people like to give when they just don’t want to do anything to fix it. Who cares if it’s a complex problem, we have really smart people in the world. We can bang this out.
There’s no reason to haggle over details though because we’re not the people in that room haggling over details. All we need to do is continue to point out that there is a problem and that we want our representatives and scientists who do studies on housing to fix it.
Leaving the EU had no upsides, and the only talking points leavers had were lies, not complexity. Making it difficult for landlords to continue owning more and more of the world’s property has plenty of upsides and very few downsides.
ghen@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When leftists say "landlord are parasites" or similar dislike of landlords, do they also mean the people that own like a couple of houses as an investment, or only the big landlords?2·5 months agoWe’re speaking in hypotheticals already, and you want to get into even more details? The world would be different in this odd scenario so trying to figure out the details ahead of time seems like you just want to make it fail before we even start.
So I guess my answer would be, the same place as before this problem occurred of having too many landlords. Go back to the 50s and see what they did then. In the 50s a down payment wasn’t even a problem because housing pricing was affordable to everyone.
We still have plenty of houses in the country. Enough to house every homeless person 4x over, so it’s not a real problem except the owners of those houses that want more and more profit out of thin air make it a problem
Start with one part. Work your way to two eventually.
I like my belly button, it’s satisfyingly deep.
