Technology@lemmy.world•Mozilla’s new CEO is doubling down on an AI future for FirefoxEnglish
161·5 days agoIve been wary if firefox since wheneved it was they decided it was okay to shove “pocket” into the browser. These days i dont see mozilla as anything other than anti monopoly insurance for google, which they obviously dont need anymore.
Mozilla as a company has just been a decade of one poor decision after another adding more bloat and doing nothing meaningful to counter chromes near monopoly.
Vivaldi isnt perfect and brave has its baggage, but at least they actually include adblocking out of the box, a feature that just about everyone wants. Sure its easy enough to install an addon to firefox for it but the fact that you even have to do that should tell you everything you need to know about who mozilla is actually working for.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Are there any sub-$200 handhelds out there that smoothly run Game Cube games?English
7·5 days agoYou should be able to run wind waker and a lot of other GC titles one something like anbernic RG405V which is around $150.
You will want to avoid the cheaper H700 based handhelds, i have a cubexx and it geta about 5fps in wind waker, but i didnt really expect it to work at all.
Android based devices tend to be better for gc from what ive seen. I dont know what the best option for under $200 is at the moment but there should be several around that price that will handle GC well.

1·14 days agoThe purpose of this story is not to be pro disability or supporting schizophrenic visibility, the purpose of this made up story is to hate on smart devices and how they shove ads into everything.
I agree with the sentiment of hating ads, i disagree with exploiting a disability by making up a fake story to make that point.
If im wrong and this story is real, then i hope they sue for a ton of money and get this kind of advertising banned.

Im not saying if this did happen its okay, im saying this is a made up story with no proof and several indicators that its made up in the actual source.
If someone has a serious mental illness that can be triggered by screens showing ads i would hope they have a living situation that avoids having such things around, especially if they live alone, or if they dont live alone then they could just ask the person they live with about it.

11·14 days agoWhich is why its probably unlikely such a person or the people they live wirh would even choose to own a smart fridge in the first place, making the scenario even further unlikely.

14·14 days agoYep exactly, these kid of adware devices almost never have an opt out for ads entirely because the ads offset the price of the item.

82·14 days agoNo, i just dont think samsung gave an option to opt out of ads perioid.
Maybe they could opt out of personalized ads, but even so this is clearly the same ad thats running all over the place in public spaces too.

533·14 days agoSo they missed the apple tv logo, from the creators of breaking bad, new series, and the fact that the fridge shows countless other ads. They also almost certainly they clicked “i agree” to terms that included targeted ads.
Either the schizophrenic is not familiar with the very concept of ads or this story is completely fake.
Edit: I didnt mean this to sound dismissive of schizophrenia, I just thought it was super obvious the story was fake. The purpose of this story is not to be pro disability or supporting schizophrenic visibility, the purpose of this made up story is to hate on smart devices and how they shove ads into everything. It should be okay to power from any phone that supports battery sharing.
The antenna that come with them are usually okay but eventually youll probably want to look into getting a better one. The small ones wont send far, but you should be able to see other far off nodes if they are high enough, they just probably wont see you.

Android@lemdro.id•Is it safe to install an older version of Android?English
2·1 month agoSafe is relative but most liiely its wanting 11 because thats the version lineage you are using is based on.
As for these “some websites ive never heard of”… They might just be ai generated pages that hit on keywords common to android such as “root” and “custom rom”. Often they are scams that present instructions looking like they will work on phone models that dont have support for custom roms at all.
So be careful, make sure what you get comes from a decent source like android file host or xda, dont just go with random search results.

Its mostly Sony, UMG, and all the other leeches who would get paid less for their share holders.
I dont feel like editing the image but imagine the guy with most of the cookies in this picture was UMG and the artists are the guy on the right.
