News@lemmy.world•US ends penny-making run after more than 230 years
1·1 month agoYou can’t just round to the nearest 5¢. Round up, and you end up pissing people off for overcharging them. Round down, and you end up losing money on every sale, which adds up over time with hundreds or thousands of transactions a day.
The grocery stores around me put up signs a month ago asking people to pay in exact change when using cash due to the penny shortage. Without stores able to get more pennies from the banks, this will become a problem in months, not years.

2·1 month agoIt’s not bad policy because Trump is doing it. The rationale is sound. The bad part of it is zero guidance was given on how cash businesses (virtually all brick and mortar business) are expected to handle the inability to make exact change in the absence of available pennies, leaving them all to figure it out for themselves.
When I was young, I got made fun of for wanting to help my mom plant and tend to a garden with basil and tomatoes. It didn’t kill my love for plants but childhood cruelty sticks with you.

My last workplace was ruthless. No meeting got put on your calendar. HR and a senior manager just waited until your Teams status went green and direct called you from a group, then fired you right then and there.

I went through 2 TP-Link devices in as many years. Been using this Asus RT-AC86U for 7 years and counting now with no issues.
Don’t you just love when they tell on themselves?
They’re the same picture.

12·5 months agoand uh, if you actually did read my comment, I did say consenting. me saying I enjoy content where clear adults are consentually enjoying sex is not endorsing rape fantasy games, and is a bit of a Twitter ass conclusion to come to.
The article you commented on is explicitly referencing media where consent cannot be given. So, I’m not sure why you commented about consenting adults in the first place, because that had nothing to do with the topic.

14·5 months agoThis comment and many like it are a product of only reading the headline. Also shame on the authors for the ragebait headline.
The tweet the quote comes further classifies that they’re talking about games that include rape, incest, and/or child sex abuse. I’m not sure if people are just knee-jerk reacting to headlines without understanding what’s actually happening, or if they are legitimately upset that rape fantasy games are being removed. In both cases, you’re stating that you are vocally in support of rape media, which is not OK.
You realize that you’re defending a game that was literally a rape and incest simulator that was already banned in multiple countries before the payment processor issue occurred, right?
