Well… it depends on the language too - although I’m not a native English speaker, I would use 12-hour in spoken English too (like I would in my native Bulgarian) - often without even appending “AM” or “PM” because it would be obvious from the context.

Reading the article, the analogy with an own generator and the power grid kind of makes sense at first… until you also make an analogy with broadcast and cable TV for example - you don’t get to choose what’s on, and in the latter case you’re practically paying for ads and some programming in between. So… how about no.
My fear is that those shortages (artificial or not) might at one point really drive us in a different direction. My only option for now is to vote with my wallet and use my stuff for as long as practically feasible.
EU fella here. I’m strongly pro-Metric and yet don’t see a problem with 12-hour time. 24-hour is kind of clumsy to use in informal speech or chat/text, but I would use it in all other instances.

Yeah, but maybe remove the battery if the thing can run without it just on mains power. Leaving a battery plugged in (especially an old one) is not the best idea.

Time is the only exception where I agree that the less specific part can come before the more specific one - just because more often than not one does not make sense without the other.
That movie/TV actors would put on some kind of rubber/latex masks on to get into roles, i.e. I didn’t think that most of the time they look like how they look like in everyday life. I’m not talking about makeup to age someone or turn them into a non-human character.
For a short period of time I would think that the news anchor on TV could see me at the same time I was looking at the screen - so I was very cautious as I was passing out of the shower and through the living room still in my bathrobe.
That there was a god, and if you pray really hard, your wish would come true. That was an idea from a friend - I kind of knew she didn’t really believe in it either and was just repeating something heard earlier, but I figured it was worth a shot. Needless to say I quickly saw through the crap.

I remember getting ice cream from McDonald’s - must’ve been 15 years ago. It was somewhat nice, but then the whole “the ice cream machine is broken” thing started and I haven’t bothered any more. Can’t tell about the rest of the food, but I share the sentiment that if it’s getting shittier and shittier, you shouldn’t support it.
