She really likes boxes, too…

Chicken vegetable stir fry. I’ve had the ingredients prepped for a couple days now. It was pretty good.

multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldOPto Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I got my new router working.English4·3 months agoYes, all that. The password manager is not going to do anything for one’s Nintendo Switch, however.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Disregarding "the American dream" what's some stuff about America that still makes you proud?English6·3 months agoI agree, the majority of Americans are decent, not racist or various forms of genophobic, and resisting as best they can. The government and media has merged into a monster. ii looks huge and scary; that’s by design. If you give up hope, they have won.

I used to use the flush side cutters. Someone bought me a gift of fancy German nail cutters , they look like the electronics tools, but are curved to do better on nails. No brand markings on them, but they are the best.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•How are you organizing your spare cable drawer?English2·3 months agoI used to have a big plastic tub that I just tossed all the cables into. After a few years, it was literally all one piece; no matter where you pulled, the entire thing would come out. It took 5 minutes of untangling to get anything out. My brother called it an abomination.
I bag each type separately, as you do. I have fewer audio cables, so they are also bagged in the same bin, quarter and eighth inch phone cables separately. No Apple stuff. Extras like DE9 serial and MIDI cables. IEC power cables are in the bin, extension cords coiled, hanging from the basement ceiling.

Shingles seems to come and go at random. Gout I’ve been able to control long term by eating less meat, especially seafood, more veggies.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Pets Sunday - how are they doing?English2·3 months agoMy two 8 month old, not-quite-kittens anymore have been tag teaming each other going into heat. We have had almost non stop yowling now. We need to wait 2 more weeks for their appointment. It’s a good thing I have earplugs, or would not sleep too well.
Other news, we made them a climbing wall with lots of activities, and they love it. We decided to keep them indoors. I have never done this before, felt pretty bad about it, but they don’t seem to mind too much, and we are determined to keep them from getting too boired.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you get through the winter?English2·3 months agoThat’s the problem, it doesn’t snow enough now… I used to be able to XC on trails in my hometown, now the snow is too thin and patchy. The ice is too thn on the lakes to be trustworthy. We get an extra 3 months of stick season, almost no snow season.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Murena, Volla or other open source smartphones suggestions?English2·4 months agoHave you considered GrapheneOS? Not an open source phone as you say, but it is at least open source software, running on hardware with published specs. It should be capable of everything you want.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Let's be honest, one of the best pros of working from home is being able to use your own toilets all day longEnglish7·4 months agoFuq yeah! I have a fancy Japanese bum-washer, it’s far better than anything in an office, and you don’t have to worry about what sounds or smells you make.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•Is it just me, or when you become "the tech guy", family and friends become extremely entitled to your help?English13·4 months agoI help out people where I can. Some are great, and grateful. Some break things much worse, or insist that the computer spontaneously deleted their data. You do need to set boundaries, and be candid about your own: “You call yourself a computer guy?” “No, I call myself an embedded software developer, I haven’t touched a Windows box in ten years, other than yours”.
Do realize that a lot of people are genuinely victims of their own tech, these days. There are people who’d probably rather not use a computer, but have no choice.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•It's that time of year again: what are your New Year's resolutions?English3·4 months agoHow does one go about touching more turtles? We have plenty of snapping turtles in the area but I think trying to touch them would be risky.
multicolorKnight@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your work schedule like during the holidays?English3·5 months agoThe company I work for has few fixed holidays, but lots of discretionary time off, and very little direct customer service, so it’s an individual choice. Many people take the week between Christmas and New Years off. I don’t; I’d rather have extra time off when the weather is warmer and I can play outside.
She knows it, too. She usually does her best “Oh, do you like me?” look, like this, when she catches you looking at her.
