18·4 months agoIt’s where people are. If you want to have any commercial success on the internet you almost need a presence on places like Reddit and Twitter

1·8 months agoI hear a lot of people recommending Mint for a first timer, would you generally disagree since it doesn’t use KDE?
I think he probably is the right guy but he was smart enough to cover his tracks and they only found him because of some kind of illegal surveillance we don’t know about. Would explain why they’re so desperate for anything else to explain how they know it was him.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL about the max headroom signal hijacking in 1987. Despite having his bare ass spanked by a woman with a fly swatter, the perpetrator was never caught.English
1·10 months agoHuman ass cheek resonance is unique, like fingerprints. There was no database at the time though.
Excel is maybe the one place I can see AI being useful because lots of people can describe what they want a spreadsheet to do but not actually do it.
I just wouldn’t trust it to do it right
Brave has great anti-fingerprinting measures I just wish I could get that without installing crypto malware on my pc

1·10 months agoAnd actually just announced the full expansion of their dental plan by June. Not perfect since it’s means-tested but that’s going to be relief for many thousands of people

1·10 months agoWorth noting he was head of Bank of Canada during the 08 crash and was pretty widely lauded for navigating it so well. So he’s proven himself in a crisis.
Would I prefer someone further left? Of course, but as long as we live in a market economy we may as well have someone knowledgeable about it and who has at least expressed a desire to make it more fair.

5·1 year agoI’m going to assume you need to use Chrome to set up the dongle because Firefox still doesn’t support Bluetooth web APIs.
Logitech G devices with the Lightspeed dongle don’t require setup (they’re all uniquely paired from the factory) and will work without the G Hub software. The software itself, if you do want it, works offline without an account.
This is assuming you don’t want to move away from Logitech entirely of course.
Automatics start in park
That’s insane. Starting in neutral is arguably safer.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What made everyone move to Bluesky or Threads instead of Mastodon?English
5·1 year agoTo many, federation is a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist for them. In their mind, the early model of federation is like email, a problem that was “solved” years ago by having one corporate product that was much better than others (Gmail).
To add, on top of that, the fediverse is like if gmail could just randomly decide to stop receiving emails from outlook addresses and there’s nothing any user can do about it except make another email for when they want to email outlook users.
I don’t think fediverse proponents know just how catastrophically this terminates their entire pitch in the minds of 99% of internet users

Glad I never gave Plex any payment details, don’t reuse passwords, and don’t plan on using it any more so I can just ignore this
