I hope they included that information on the cover of the Voyager golden record in case aliens want to understand our numbers.

My thought as well, but alas, this is what my dad’s looks like 🤷. Illustrates the point even better though, kind of.
imho, the “seconds” bits are neat because you can see things change… Like, you see that it does stuff. Like the “seconds” hand on an analogue clock, it’s mostly practical to see that it’s working as expected.
It’s afternoon, time to call it a day!
Yeah, what kind of idiot needs repeating patterns in the time format for repeating times during a day? Just display the unix timestamp on the clock tower and be done with it.
Actually, having 64 bits arranged vertically on a tower seems neat.
If that obfuscated something, it wasn’t on purpose… it’s just literally the clock in my dad’s kitchen.
… and those who know at base n, “10” can represent literally any number.
Maybe this comic doesn’t translate well, just because people don’t do the same stuff in different places. In Germany it’s tradition to light up one more candle on the four Sundays preceding Christmas. Even people who aren’t really religious often do that, because why not? It’s comfy and cozy.

No worries, and please remain critical.
So, yeah, my mother tongue is German, so the English texts may be a little bumpy here or there. I feel confident enough with my English but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a secondary language for me and this is not really a professional project where I could pay some natively English speaking nerd to fix my mistakes.
That said I’m aware how debuggers attach to the processes they’re analysing, I just wasn’t aware that this would turn the word exclusive if used in this context. Thanks for bringing it up though! Learned something!
So, as usual this might be a translation issue, but I wasn’t aware that an attachment has a direction. The debugger would obviously feed its output to the llm in this scenario, so the two things are attached to each other in the sense of the word that I got from a dictionary. As the debugger gives a filename as well, feeding the files contents as well, asking for improvements and overwriting the original file would be trivial, so automating it should be easy enough. Attachment was meant here only in the sense of “well, they’re connected and data goes from a to b”.
Would such a setup make sense? Not really. But you know, that’s why it’s a four-panel-comic and not some overrated ai startup. Or maybe it is, it seems like making sense isn’t really a requirement for tech startups anymore.
But “bit” isn’t a standardised c++ type so wasn’t in my train of thought at all…
Also, there’ll be no one to blame for mistakes! Failures are just software errors and can be shrugged off! Increase profits and pay less for insurance! What’s not to like?

The Ship of Theseus. If you’re on a vessel like that, it’s always one hand for the ship and one for yourself.
The only question is… Is it a vessel like that?
He’s doing stuff with a laptop in one hand and his phone in his other. You can’t hold onto railings like that. Definitely not safe for work.
Pretty sure the screen you see the AI on shines pretty brightly.

64 bits please. We don’t want a year 2038 problem.
