News@lemmy.world•MAGA turns on Walmart after heiress takes out full-page NYT ad
57·7 months agoNah, not that simple. She married a Walton and he died. She inherited like 1.9% of the company but has never been involved in the business. A few people who claim to know her say she’s genuine as well.
Acetone in the dry erase is doing the heavy lifting in this scenario.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump says Musk ‘lost his mind’ after billionaire suggests he would like to make amends with president – live
9·7 months agoRocket Man Icarus flew too close to the sun on this one. Elon thought he had a lot more pull than he did, but the invisible hand of the market was happy to fist him a friendly reminder of who’s really in charge here. Musks power is his money and his money is his stock price; without it he is less than nothing.

18·7 months agoIt’s a difference of about 300k tons/yr, but as others have mentioned, the price paid to Russia for these exports have plummeted. So in addition to exporting less, they are also getting paid substantially less as well.
Hydrangeas are beautiful plants, we are lucky to have a few in our yard! One of them can’t actually bloom because evidently that variety only flowers on ‘old’ wood, which is not great for cold climates.
Anyway, for those who don’t know, you can actually change the color of your hydrangea by adjusting soil ph. They are “naturally” a darkish pink.
He did Spirited Away, right???
I have done many outdoor grows, and imho, definitely get her some support, she’s gonna get stupid big if it’s already at 3ft. Ripening colas are heavy, especially after rain, and sagging branches have a tendency to press bud sites together, which invites bud rot. Good luck either way!

Well that horse is majestic af. I am going to go ahead and assume she enjoys performing the trick, otherwise I wish her luck in crushing her captors.
Deer can absolutely stand on two legs, and even stumble around a bit. Here is an example, looks like it’s in search of food:

Anyhow, I do agree it’s very improbable, but the story is certainly possible, especially if you ignore the likely hyperbole about “brains everywhere”.
Prion diseases like that make deer do allllll sorts of kooky shit, man. Definitely possible.
Depends on the size of the bus - anywhere from high 90s to half a million for a school bus.
I hated this change, I’ve used a side taskbar in windows my entire IT career. It makes it painfully obvious which taskbar is yours and which is the servers when logged in over RDP. With this simple tweak, I had quite literally never made a click error on a remote server… Until windows 11.

2000snostalgia@lemmy.world•This was probably my favorite picture book as a kidEnglish
35·8 months agoI’ve read this book many times to my kid, and while it was a personal favorite growing up, I can’t help but think the message it sends isn’t the best. It basically boils down to: if people don’t want to be your friend, you should consider changing who you are, and if that doesn’t work, try bribing them instead.
E. The Giving Tree is another popular book I am fond of from childhood with a poor message imho. (Take take take no matter the cost to others) but in truth, that book is at least a good metaphor for parenthood as a whole. (We’re the tree)
“I frequently interface with idiots, so I don’t feel it would be safe for you to have full control over the hardware you own.”

Everyone knew Iran would shut the straight, this is all just subterfuge for loosening restrictions on Russian oil purchases because “we have no other options”.
