Meanwhile there are a not insignificant number of people doing everything they can to erase the population which actually invented the technology, and therefore does understand it. It’s probably not a coincidence that those people are speaking up the loudest about misusing the tech.
I had actually just started working in nanotech when the pandemic hit, so I had just studied the subject of genetic therapy in quite a bit of detail. I was so disgusted by what I saw during Covid that I left the industry entirely. Student dept be damned, I won’t be party to such outrageous dishonesty.
And there it is: People have become so delusional about AI they’re literally calling it “persecution” when people don’t like this inanimate tool (which is actively doing massive harm).

It was just one example dude. The entire system we’ve built is so full of holes it’s basically impossible to safeguard data that ends up on a computer.
Hell, someone literally hacked and blew up an Iranian nuclear centrifuge which didn’t even have a connection, taking advantage of capabilities which security experts around the world weren’t even aware a computer was capable of.
On-by-default wireless connections are kind of a MASSIVE security issue.
Really, simply the fact that society keeps trying to force things on computers which are not at all safe to do, is why our current paradigm is so shit.

No fucking shit. Computers, the way they’ve been developed and deployed, basically look like they are intentionally insecure. The fact MBAs keep trying to force this fundamentally flawed concept of computing upon the world is driving intelligent people to look else where.

Honestly though, a huge portion of this trans insanity is literally just edgelords taking things way too far, as they have since time immemorial.
After considering it in more depth, I think the big reason I can’t stand this LGBTQ crap is that is that my community growing up WAS the trans community, except we didn’t call it that, we were just a bunch of outcasts, all there for their own reasons and we really enjoyed each other’s company, but now a bunch of loser trenders seeking social clout have ruined the entire scene, because apparently we were far cooler than the society which rejected us. Well, not anymore I guess.
Finally some sanity.
It seems as though our technological development has been significantly outpacing our ability to understand and apply it properly.
The biggest reason it matters is because we’ve all known for a long time that these sorts of things do happen in wealthy circles, as Epstein isn’t even the first one to be brought to justice over it. While these things have previously been smoothed over by social connections and simply the fact that people have other things to worry about, today the rapidly advancing technologies which exist are making the existence of semi-open corruption within powerful circles an existential crisis for the entire species. We’re seriously risking having the general population decide that civilization simply isn’t worth allowing predators direct and unsupervised access to everyone they care about, forever.
Well the important part is they didn’t elect Trump 2.0.
