Is it also true that the kangaroos steal all the women too with their statuesque muscles?

1·18 days agoHuh. I’ll have to rewatch them someday.
Also I always thought it really random that the prequels started with a blockade and trade dispute with the Trade Federation, but now that I’m an old man I see that it’s likely yet another ripoff of Dune.
It’s exactly like the Spacing Guild! They are the merchant transportation industry in that universe and they can and do isolate the Atreides on the planet to secretly facilitate an invasion.

2·21 days agoHuh… It never occurred to me (because I was a dumb kid) that Leia has to be a princess of a domain.
I guess she was supposed to be the daughter of one of the Galactic Empire’s vassals like the Atriedes to the Padishah Emperor and the Corrinos in Dune. Then she would be helping a rebellion to overthrow her lord’s rule over her and her fellow vassals, hence the alliance in Rebel Alliance, which is also like the Landsrad in Dune.
Dune did leave a big influence on sci-fi. Even the Force is like the whole prescience (eg. Deflecting lasers using foresight) and shared ancestral memory thing (eg. Connections to everyone and communing with the dead, which always seemed so random to me at the end of New Hope). Luke and Leia definitely embodies a lot of qualities of Paul.
Also, she’s racist against Wookies? Lol when was that shown? 😆.
They work because north poles find south poles hot eh eff.

Sounds like I need a 10"with three balls
Okay but what if I want to be inside it?
(Because now I’m curious after owning many obviously porous sex toys but won’t be having kids.)

Gaming@lemmy.world•Three developers' different philosophies on difficulty for their gamesEnglish
2·21 days agoI’m not trying to disagreeing with you. But that’s the thing, being “good” at a game isn’t among the most important qualifications for insightful analysis which is why gamers tend to make poor takes.
The important qualifications are experience with analysis and formal knowledge in the arts, humanities, and some of the sciences. The YouTuber Noah Caldwell-Gervais is a good example. The guy sucks ass at twitch mechanics (ie. playing games) but he’s extremely well-read and has extensive knowledge on many domains so he makes insightful analysis.
Miyazaki doesn’t even play his own games and probably sucks just as much ass at twitch mechanics but he’s able to consistently direct amazing games because of his extensive knowledge and experience apart from playing well.

7·1 month agoGames, like movies, are easily consumed but difficult to create. As a result, everyone and their grandma can critique them and publish on the Internet which only further self-selects for the highly opinionated to do so.
But not all opinions are equal. You can be well studied in your field and generally intelligent, but if you don’t have a relevant background in the humanities and the sciences, you can have complex reasoning but without having the depth, the breadth, and the relevance in the analysis.
Case in point the first replier. The analogy is fine and the deductive reasoning is self-consistent, but they didn’t show the relevance to game design. (Ie. Why must the author make the text size bigger for people who can’t enjoy smaller text, and why must the same apply to games.)
That’s why gamers seem to be notorious for having takes that miss the trees for the forest.
(I am aware that I’m very much at risk of committing this very error with my post.)
Guys should really be the primary ones to enforce it on other guys like this. It’s sad that girls end up dealing with the brunt of it.
