I’m not sure about always. That’s just lazy world building to have orcs naturally evil instead of predominantly mind controlled or ruled by evil leaders or some sort of blood fued. It’s the same with good aligned races. Unless you want to focus on the definition of good and evil.

I learned after the fact, that most of Torchwood is just how John Barrowman is. He insisted on having a scene with a shirtless Stephen Amell in Arrow as well.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a standalone movie that deserves a good sequel?
6·2 days agoValerian and the city of a thousand planets. It’s an amazing setting and if you put some leads with actual chemistry in a sequel it could do well.

11·8 days agoGoing nearly a month without playing is actually a huge negative and these playoffs hurt the good teams with a bye. We should be watching the final or semi finals today, not a month from now.

politics @lemmy.world•Dragged down by an unpopular president, Republicans are bracing for a midterm trouncing
1·10 days agoNothing much. Republicans have been distancing from trump since solid red elections went blue. This is just more of that.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•Agriculture uses 98% of humanity's land usageEnglish
103·14 days agoLand use would be lower if we reduced livestock, but likely not massively. Lots of grazing land isn’t suitable for farming, letting it go wild would also require a massive effort to reintroduce natural grazing animals, which would likely need active management. There’s also the fact most of our crops would need to change to optimize for human consumption, and humans aren’t as efficient at consuming those calories as livestock. Even after transitioning crops there’s going to be a significant amount that isn’t processable by humans that would sustain some amount of livestock.
Timezones really suck because it only takes one person doing something wrong and it makes a giant mess.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it legally possible to explicitly exclude the use of content (text, images, code, etc.) for the purpose of training AI models by including a corresponding clause in the terms of use?
3·17 days agoMostly no, but maybe yes. The problem would be licenses that are granted to anyone that hosts your content could allow them to use it for such things. If you completely self host or carefully select for services that don’t have terms that allow them to use your data, then maybe you have a legal claim you could make.
The second problem is going to be proving a company used your data to train on. You likely can’t prove they have a copy, if it’s been parsed into some sort of meta data, it may be permissable anyway.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any RPGs that take into account when you reload a save? Or that break the 4th wall like this?
7·17 days agoThe Batman Arkham games gradually add visible damage to you as you die and reload. It’s not exactly story relevant, but adds nice flavor.
There’s also resetti in animal crossing that is a bit of the opposite. He just shames you and wastes your time for save scumming.
