This would be a transparent attempt to usurp the power of the Supreme Court and make it subservient, not co-equal, to the other two branches.

If we want to fight a good-faith SC challenge, we’d have to do something like every president gets to appointments of 16 years or something that just makes things more equitable and less random (retirements, deaths). The more the intent is to alter the court for political reasons, the more likely it is to fail…

So I think impeachments, as long as a shot as they are currently, is a better tactic, and maybe investigations would expose the illegitimacy of the SC and build support for an update in a way abstract arguments about the number of justices do not.

If this is a valid observation, how much of it is do with lack of instiutional support, both direct lack of support (Jackson) and damning-with-faint-praise (El-Sayed)? On top of establishment media making anyone’s leftists policies the issue of discussion while completely ignoring anything the Republican oppponent’s ever said or done?

That these candidates win against these currents leads me to the exact oppossite conclusion: these are the candidates that can win, and with less money.

What we do have a mechanism to do is impeach Justices and plenty of cause to do so.

Yes, I’m fully on board with the social model of disability. People’s need for incessant need for chitchat and constant validation is their fucking disability as far as I’m concerned, but somehow the world has managed to make it my probloem.

But the ADHD side of things for me is where it really does feel like a disability, when an important project sits unattended on my desk, or a piano goes unplayed, or blankets unwashed, or papers un-gone-through, for weeks or months, all that start to feel like a disability because there isn’t anything between me and the tasks but myself.

Yeah, I think I have pathological demand avoidance on top of everything else, so that definitely changes the calculus.

I did manage a little bit of routine for several years. Every day, my first thing was to study language (anki vocab mostly) while I drank my mater. Since my burnout, I’ve left that behind, but think maybe it’s time to replace language with piano…

The algorithm definitely has a type. Among the amateurs, young white women, from whatever country come first, and a lot of them are raising children. I have no idea why that is, though I suspect being able to stay home full time is socially more accessible, and I imagine you need huge amounts of bandwidth to pull off a successful YouTube channel and at least a small amount of money for a good setup.

The other thing I notice is a divide between professionally successful and professionally unsuccessful autistic people. There’s a whole ass video about helping your kid get through college and get into a career and how jobs can accomodate it, but it all rest on the very definitely and explicitly stated condition that that autistic kid is world-class in some activity. And that is fucking annoying to me, because I’m not particularly good at anything and if I were better at the things I would like to do, they’re not really job skills… anyway, just another wrinkle to the landscape.

Agreed, but Hegseth was more directly in charge of those, (reportedly ordering a double-tap to kill survivors–civil suit coming to a court near you) and, again, this isn’t about Rule of Law but embarassing the regime–and killing civilans in SA is nothing out of the ordinary for the US.
