Do any of you have any moral reasoning to critically support Russia? Or do you support it out of strategic reasons despite moral objections?

There is one I could try to get in good with. I think I weirded out the PSL when I included a bunch of verbal self-flagellation for being a parasitic cracker.

Just played a session where there was a mirror with a symbol of a full moon, as well as a nearby moondial that shows the current phase of the moon. The party deduced that the moon needed to be a full moon to work, but no one wanted to wait days until the moon was in the right phase. One of the players decided to expose their whole ass to the mirror to see if that type of “full moon” would do anything. When that didn’t work, a sorcerer in the party used an illusion spell to make the actual moon in the sky resemble the other character’s bare ass. Sadly, that also didn’t work.

For me, it’s stuff that I consciously realize is wrong but unconsciously and irrationally still believe in to some extent.

I still believe in personal responsibility bootstrapping to an unreasonable degree. For example, I see obesity and drug use as personal moral failings that are wholly on the individual, and only the individual, to rectify – for myself anyway. I don’t wield it as a cudgel against others at least. Come to think of it, I think I mostly believe in this solely so I can be hard on myself.

I also for some reason vacillate between reactionary Dawkins style anti-theism (extreme to the point where I’m convinced I’d crucify Jesus again if I ever met him) and being convinced that religiosity and spirituality are prerequisites to being a good person and that my inability to convince myself that god is real means I’m an ontologically evil subhuman.

Also also I find it hard to resist my hard-wired programming to be a knee-jerk western chauvinist. A lot of my “unlimited genocide on the first world” style posting is partly to counteract this tendency within me with an opposite extreme. I guess growing up during the war on terror and never coming across opinions like “maybe all those people our government is bombing are human beings actually” until I’m an adult will do that to a person.

I can’t speak much on the cult panic (Amerikkka is a satanic country where it is frowned upon not to abuse one’s children, and conservatives are the foremost abusers), but recovered memory isn’t bullshit as far as I can tell (I also used to dismiss it). The book I linked in another comment goes into how memory for traumatic events works differently than it does for everyday things. The author and the Trauma Research Foundation he works for seem pretty reputable.

Yes. People remember traumatic events differently than they remember normal events. Instead of remembering an event in a narrative way where you consciously know what happened, trauma shuts off this narrative memory and is instead remembered by a person doing certain behaviors or reacting to certain stimuli. This is why repressed memories are a thing.

The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk is an excellent book on the topic.
