  • the title is a hyperbolic but the research makes sense. but for those who do not contain the gene needed for resding articles… they gave people a math test. one group had no assisstance the other had ai solve the problems and then take it away and the ai group had trouble finishing once the ai was gone.

i never thought people should use it to take the challenge away. i want ai to sweep thenfloor so i have time to build a new controller for my sprinkler system. i dont want ai to build the project so i can sweep floors.

  • This is a ridiculous title. remove misk from the story for a minute. are we saying that tje only people who can build something are those who built it before? Nokia who made rubber boots dodnt know anything about mobile phones bitbi think they did a orettybgood job going from boots to phones. But because musk is a douche, all of a sudden it is a “harebrain scheme”. musk isnt building the thing. he has a history of paying a lot of money to people who know what they are doing. spacex is great example.pf that. its hard not to admire the great engineers who work there. its a company that will thrive even if musk disappeared.

honest question, isnt the register a news site?

i don’t like musk at all but what kind of news article spends just as much time on the dislike of the man than the event its reporting on.

obviously my point is moot if another commenter tells me that the register was bought about by so-and-so and is no longer a news site.

  • It was 100% about the web. But to be clear, for this conversation we have to be pedantic. when i say web, i mean the world wide web, the service that runs on the application layer of the internet. I am not talking about the internet itself. I was working as a software developer and a lot of people thought web pages weren’t going anywhere. AOL was how people accessed online but there were competing products to the WWW, the biggest competitor was gopher. Web pages were not as functional at first and were seen as a fad, like an online business card. So yes people doubted the WWW app/tech itself.

i think most people just don’t care. we really need to spread the message. i think getting reddit users on piefed and lemmy is a good start. (like your username btw)

i want to spread the word so bad but i was banned from reddit. never knew why and i was very curious and surprised until i found out Paul McCartney was banned for posting pictures of his concert. so now i know it could have been anything.

favebook is another matter. i may have never had an account but i love tech history. mark and the gang built tools to scrape you other account back in the day an add the data to facebook. made it easy to switch. they also made it close to impossible to do the same to facebook. but it would require something like that to get people on to something else.

ok… soap box rant tangent time…

i am so pissed all the governments have been stepping up this age check anti vpn anti privacy push. in my magical completely unrealistic paradise world, we would have public service annpuncents about how to self host and be a part of the solution. i am so just disenchanted with society (not sure if thats the best term). i feel like it was only two years ago where i feel the bad stuff was selling our data to advertisers. sure the nsa kept illegally spying on us but the EFF would fight them in court.

now its so much worse :(
