In general I’m surprised how pedestrian unfriendly Danish cities are given how much space bikes get.
With the snow there recently was, bike lanes where free, while sidewalks where a mess.

Depending on field, double-blind reviews are rare. In ecology I had maybe one or two reviews in 5 years that were double-blinded, normally you see the author list as a reviewer
Am biologist, can confirm.
Best I saw so far were muddy rubber boots and muddy cargo pants.
Neurobiology is more like #2 and #3 and stand out among ecologist.

The dev was shortly active on Matrix a few weeks ago. And I think the Friendica app is getting more love at the moment.
But I agree, it feels abandoned at the moment.

No love for Raccoon?

2/5, completely unbelievable story telling. The script relies too much on random events to advance the story and create drama.

Yeah, I’ve been done with the Duolingo course for a while now.
As for the other app, you might be talking about Lingonaut. They’ll have Finnish from the start. The iOS version is in beta and they just started development of the Android version.
Or you are talking about Anki, I’ve made a super deck with all the Finnish courses and removed the duplicates, but I lack the motivation to get started again.

Any recommendations for learning resources especially for grammar? I’m currently in s low motivation phase for learning Finnish, but I should get started again.
Well ok, if you count a research plan for a grant , I agree.
But I would see a grant application as separate from the job application, even though jobs then can be conditional on the grant.
I’ve at least never encountered an academic job, where there was only a grant application, and not also the standard job application process.

I’ve only learned Germanic and Romance languages before, so learning Finnish feels like repeatedly running against a wall, hoping the wall will give up.
It’s incredibly frustrating.
I assume that’s for assistant professor and higher, right? Because I’ve never encountered a postdoc application where you would have needed the long essay, just one page cover letter, CV, letters of recommendation, and diplomas.

Hm, I’m in the EU, in a country where a battery swap is not offered.
Maybe that makes a difference.

Check your spam folder. I applied for the store credit and got an answer within 48h, but it went straight to my spam

Looks pretty great, but no direct sales and I can’t find a local retailer.

Thanks, I checked my local IKEA yesterday: Glass part is made in Czech Republic, lid is made in China

I would love to buy those, but their EU website is under construction, and I don’t find them locally in retail. So currently only delivery in France.

You seriously lose interest when people point out a typographic Nazi dog-whistle?

The theme of an octopus grasping the world is textbook anti-Semitic symbolism. https://antisemitism.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Antisemitic-imagery-May-2020.pdf

Please do alternatives for remote backup services (like Back blaze) next. I’m still struggling there
I’m not holding snow against them, but their pedestrian infrastructure.
It’s great for bikes, no doubt, but sidewalks are ridiculously narrow, are not cleared from snow, and in some areas don’t even exist, so you have to walk on the bike path.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s very possible to get around on foot, but walking longer distances does not seem to be part of the city planning.
If the bike paths would be equally terrible, I wouldn’t even complain, but streets and bike paths are both well maintained.
