I’m not up to date on the current market, but I have Ikea blinds that are battery operated which I control from HA. The batteries are rechargeable, and the batteries themselves have micro-USB ports for charging.
One option would be to buy these, see what kind of charging port they come with these days, and try to make some physical modifications to jam a USB connector in there. From there, you just have to figure out the solar part. A lot of solar charge controllers have USB ports which should work to charge the battery, but they are clunky and you’d have to mount it on the wall probably.
For what it’s worth, the batteries in these shades last quite a long time… Looking at one of them, I last charged it in September 2024, and it’s still at 72%. It goes up/down at least once a day I’d say.
Nice addition.
Oh yeah, bummer.
Nope. If it was something that I’d need to refer to later I might go the photo route, but since it’s all temporary reference I just toss it in the trash.
I do for my job, where I need to quickly jot down important information. The info I jot down is temporary in nature, and after a particular “job” (I might have a few jobs in a day), the info is useless.
Paper and pen is great because it’s fast, custom, doesn’t take up screen space, and you don’t have to click buttons to throw it away.
Yeesh. I’m glad I have uBlock Origin and also AdGuard Home. uBlock Origin is much easier, but both combined means pretty much no ads in my entire house.
This is built in, but I can’t find the documentation.
Try something like 'F jS, Y')#
in the title. (
Timing (or I guess flow rate) is sort of important, but as someone who recently ditched my shot scale/timer (I still weigh beans with it), my espresso has never tasted better! It’s weird… once I stopped chasing the general guidelines and just let stuff happen, making small adjustments based on taste alone, I now know that’s the way to go.
Sure, I still know if a shot is going way too fast or way too slow based on past experience, so that might be difficult for a beginner to pick up on, but once you know how things should generally go, I think it’s a good idea to put the science to the side and focus on the flavor.
It was a tough jump to make since I’m a nerd and want things to fit into the prescribed formula that all of the experts have come up with over the years… But beans are different, grinders are different, etc.
I think what made me ditch the scale was James Hoffman’s video on the difference between sour and bitter. I never knew what to look for in regards to “taste”, and that video makes it so easy to understand.
For those curious, you don’t have to watch the video. Sour hits you immediately and is short lived – bitter creeps up on your tongue and lingers. Sour is a sign of a shot being under extracted, and bitter is over extracted. A proper shot might be sour & bitter, but they somehow balance each other out, or they’re covered up by all the other good flavors.
It’s run by the main developers of Lemmy, and they’re both authoritarian communists (which I just got from Wikipedia as I’m trying not to use the pejoritve “tankie”).
Anything that could be perceived as speaking down towards Russia, China, maybe even North Korea, ends up with your comment getting deleted and your account banned for a period of time.
They started Lemmy because @dessalines got banned from Reddit. The backwards thinking is that people shouldn’t be banned for speaking their minds, yet their instance is the absolute worst for that.
By avoiding .ml you are helping Lemmy be what it should be – a decentralized, user owned, user moderated place with sensible decisions behind the scenes.
I’m poking around and don’t see a segments option or anything similar in Endurain at the moment. I could be missing it, though.
My Endurain instance is single user, so I’d just create segments that interest me (probably based off what Strava users have come up with). I usually ride the same 1 or 2 places so it would be pretty easy!
!linux@lemmy.world and !linux@programming.dev have my support since I boycott .ml whenever possible.
Endurain is very very cool, but I’m not sure if it does personal records or segments yet. Strava segments, especially, will be hard to match since they’re crowdsourced.
Looks like you can add these sensors. Verify on the product page, though. I only just looked at the WS-5000.
I agree with Ambient Weather. Spend as much as you’re comfortable with. Make sure it has a WiFi base station. I’m using this integration installed through HACS. It’s solid.
For remote access, wireguard is great. You can access stuff via their internal addresses.
One of the few podcasts I listen to sometimes. Wishing them well and thanks for all of the hard work.
I thought it was great.
I don’t need backlight to type words, but love backlit keys for symbols, brightness keys, volume keys, function keys, etc.
