If the income tax graduations are steep enough then the billionaire class will optimize to minimize taxes by reducing their own income in favor of reinvesting in their business and employees. In theory. In reality I’m sure they’d find some way to squirrel it away while their employees apply for and get denied food stamps.

Good point. I was thinking that every elected official should have all of their money and assets forfeited. And those of immediate family members. And have trials on a case by case basis to take the assets of anyone who they materially helped with the undue influence of their position.

No confidence votes are a referendum that forces a new vote. Impeachment is done by representatives and kicks off a process that gets blocked by the senate and results in no change, ever.

Yeah, the chaos of it all is a tactic. Russel Vought saw how the firehose of falsehoods in the original Trump admin was weaponized to allow all kinds of illegal and horrible shit take place with no consequences. Weirdly, yes. The conservatives have been screeching for decades that the federal government is too powerful. Their goal was always to reduce federal control in order to get more control for themselves. They were told by the federal government “dont pollute that river, it’s illegal.” and so they decided “well if the government can’t tell me not to pollute that river, then I can pollute that river.” So I believe that was their long goal. Make the government completely intolerable, even for the most devout big-government liberal. Then they will have a cultural movement to dismantle the government.

Then when everyone is distracted - whoops slavery is legal again.
