      I’m not sure everyone would agree on that.

      But even then, who gives a shit about how he looks? People have this weird fascination for him as if he’s a newer Jesus or something, pretending that he is the One that everyone should know and respect and quote and love. That’s much closer to an obsession than something about being a good writer.

        Most people who have a fairly solid grasp of English literature would agree he is/was important. He introduces a lot of words into the language and plays and poetry before and after him show noteworthy differences.

        Saying Shakespeare wasn’t important to English would be like saying Beethoven wasn’t important to classical music. It would be a hot take and would likely not be well supported.

        Note there is a difference between important and writers I enjoy.

        Agreed that we dont know what he looks like or why that would be important.
