Still better lyrics than all the AI Slop songs generated today.
That song defined an entire generation. It wasn’t just the lyrics, it was the music, how it was made, how it sounded differently from before, where it played, by whom, in which movies and all.
Why do you people bring up AI at every possible chance you get? Is it a popularity contest? “Look who hates AI the most! It’s me!”
Like, this post has nothing to do with the subject but you came in just to make your argument about how the song isn’t bad, but you started with some random anti AI shit. Why do you let it live so presently in your mind?
AI assisted music generation still sucks, for sure, and I don’t think there’s a big future in fully generated music that isn’t fueled by an insane amount of stealing musician’s work. Just look at the lawsuits against Suno and Udio. Maybe it can be a way to generate simple loops as an alternate to sample tracks or something.
I looked through @MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca ’s post history and AI is only mentioned a couple other times, always in context of tech/AI topics. So the real question is why are YOU attacking him, generalizing “you people”, and in general just flying off all half cocked like some kinda weird white knight with a hard on for AI?
Oh boy, ya got me. I’m a big ol WhiteKnightGPT©™®
The fediverse is too small for reddit-like repetition of the same comments over and over. We don’t all have to take turns making the same comment hoping that ours is the one that gets a big positive number next to it.
I get his sentiment, honestly. Sometimes you just want to come to a post about nostalgia, but it seems almost every post the slightly references art has this discussion mentioned. Sort of how many conversations will shoehorn the MAGA administration.
It would be nice if we didn’t always have to be focused on the meta of the world and could just take a meme in isolation for what it is.
Everyone’s welcome to their occasional complaint and I don’t think either party is wrong here. I just understand both of their frustrations.
And also…what the hell is AI generated music, and where is it showcased as the main part of a catalogue?
Spotify has discovered that they don’t have to pay musicians if they just have AI generate the bands and songs. If you use it, keep an eye out for songs in your recommendations and songs radio by bands who have no other songs and no info on them. They started slipping them in there a couple of years ago now.
Also, YouTube is full of AI generated music as well. Similar to AI “artists,” there are people who are “AI musicians.” Although, I think it’s harder for them since the music publishers clamped down pretty damn quickly on people not being allowed to use copyrighted music to train LLMs.
Have you considered that they said ‘you people’ because this is a general issue with lemmy and not specifically about bunny? The fact that you can’t even entertain a complaint without derisively calling the complainer an Ai supporter itself is a sign the circlejerk’s gone too far.
You people?
You people!!
And I’m tired of pretending it isn’t
Have you ever once pretended it isn’t? Or is this a reddit-like repeat of a movie quote from Joker to the same tune as those upthread were just complaining about?
I’m not trying to come for you, specifically Anarki, but you just accidentally provided a perfect example of the exact thing the others were complaining about.
I have and while AI/LLMs have their legit uses I think most of the current ones are garbage.
The quote just fits.
When I see this picture I just hear “im blue daba Dee daba da”
There was so much ingenuity, skill, and creativity that
goeswent into making something completely new and original sounding from various samples of songs all done manually on analog hardware. The one that always blows my mind the most is Face to Face. 20 different samples, all morphed into an entirely different song. I cannot even comprehend how someone would go about thinking this up and creating it with today’s technology, let alone in the 90s. And of course there’s the infamous story of Daft Punk pulling the aux cable halfway out of their instruments and playing with the feedback as part of the music. There are certain musicians who’d be ahead of their time in any time.At least, back in those days, people still knew the answer to one of life’s most important questions: “What is love?”
And people nowadays don’t?
O_o
Baby don’t hurt me. No more.
Either you didn’t get the reference or you think Haddaway is still relevant today.
Did you check the spoiler?
No, I didn’t.
I made a silly joke about a 90s music track, didn’t expect having to justify not having thought it through entirely, tbh.
