What a beautiful world we live in.
My fantasy is for “everyone” to realize there’s absolutely nothing “intelligent” about current AI. There is no rationalization. It is incapable of understanding & learning.
ChatGPT et al are search engines. That’s it. It’s just a better Google. Useful in certain situations, but pretending it’s “intelligent” is outright harmful. It’s harmful to people who don’t understand that & take its answers at face value. It’s harmful to business owners who buy into the smoke & mirrors. It’s harmful to the future of real AI.
It’s a fad. Like NFTs and Bitcoin. It’ll have its die-hard fans, but we’re already seeing the cracks - it’s absorbed everything humanity’s published online & it still can’t write a list of real book recommendations. Kids using it to “vibe code” are learning how useless it is for real projects.
We aim to eventually migrate to Web3 and use AI to oversee the site to ensure nobody crosses the line.
Hilarious. $10 this site was vibe coded.
They’re a troll & not worth engaging. Funnily enough, their sole argument for seemingly every interaction is “well why don’t YOU do it”.
Willfully ignorant.
That is an award-winning shot.
“The Simpsons” has been translated into so many languages it’s basically a televised Rosetta Stone.

I want more movies and shows where the bodyguard grows a conscience and murders the corrupt POS they’re guarding.
My old elementary school had a deal with some distributor. Distributor put in a couple snack & soda machines & the school got a cut of the profit.
I just assume this is similar.
I share your optimism. I’d love to see Ecosia + Qwant (or whoever, really) succeed.
That’s a fair point, “misleading” might’ve been a poor choice of words, but - one of the points on their page reads
“Our solar panels produce enough energy to power your searches twice over, meaning more renewables (and fewer fossil fuels) in the energy grid.”
So fair enough, they’re offsetting enough to power the connection from their users to Google/MS; I just thought this quote (and their home page in general) glossed over their reliance on those 3rd parties to “do the dirty work”, so to speak.
Hey, that’s cool! I hope they can keep up the environmental message as they wean off Google/MS. Have they given a timeframe on when they hope to implement it? Seems like a huge task.
Question for the Ecosia fans in the audience - The “we plant trees with ad revenue” is pretty cool, but they’re just a front end for Google (or Bing), yeah?
If so, isn’t their whole “we’re green” thing misleading? Does it really support EU interests if the backend is still US?
The Mountain Goats’ “No Children”, but very intensely.
It’s about motive.
Officials then revealed in the statement, obtained Monday by USA TODAY, that the relationship between the suspects and Nordquist suggests it was not a hate crime.
Nordquist and those suspected in his death were known to each other, and all identified as LGBTQ+, authorities said. At least one of the suspects lived with Nordquist before his death, the statement added.
A “hate crime” by most definitions is motivated purely by a prejudice against someone because of their race/gender/sexuality. If the culprits were just doing this because they’re psychotic, it wouldn’t be pursued as a “hate crime”.
“We are still in the early stages of this investigation,” according to a statement. “We urge the community not to speculate into the motive behind the murder as we work to find justice for Sam.”
It sounds like it’s still possible it’ll be tried as a hate crime, but the revelation that the culprits were known to the victim and also identified as LGBTQ+ means there’s likely more to the motive.
